Parliamentary committee calls on government to abide by international resolutions on Iran

BAGHDAD (AKnews) : The economy and investment committee in the Iraqi Council of Representatives has called on the government to abide by the international resolutions about sanctions against Iran due to its nuclear program.
Committee chairman Ahmed al-Alwani said: "Iraq must respect the international laws issued against Iran, especially since Iraq is still under Chapter VII of the UN Charter.
"Iran has problems with the United Nations related to international sanctions and has investments with Iraq and is - through the economic situation in Iraq - trying to compensate the economic damage as a result of international sanctions."

Hello Everyone!
Speaking of retiring, let's talk the IQD. The Current IQD, that we have all purchased will be retired. There have been too many reports about new IQD currency, be it bills or coins will be put into place as soon as September 1, 2012. Does that mean the current IQD will be reduced in value? NO. It will increase. How can that be. Very simple. The IQD that each of us own will be required or needed by Iraq, so the CBI can take it out of circulation. That is why there is such a quick turnaround for all of us to cash in (that is why we will get a nice price for our IQD). The quicker Iraq can get the old IQD off the streets, the faster they can issue the new Demons and start building their future.

MP Maliki lawmakers demanding editing of "control" the leaders of the blocks and the presidency of the Council

8-27-2012 Dontlop (Part 1): If you just ask what backs up the dollar, we only have 146 billion in foreign reserves in the US. We have around a trillion in actual physical currency.
We don't know what's going to happen until the IMF does whatever it does with this new currency redenomination and its exchange rates with the current dinar.
If it's simple division, then thats what it is. They started out with what 28 trillion dinars, about 28 billion dollars worth of wealth in currency. I'd say just Baghdad alone is worth more than that.

Around here and across Dinaro World when you hear the term "exchange rate", the discussion is almost exclusively about currency. And sometimes the talk is about the EUR, or GBP, but 90% of the time it's about the Iraqi Dinar and it's exchange rate to the US Dollar..
Currently there exists only one exchange rate between the IQD and the USD. But it can be expressed in two different ways. For example, One Dollar US will buy 1166 at the CBI. It is written 1:1166. Of course we can't do that, so we get a lot less for our buck, but that's another story.
If you want to show how many dollars a single dinar will net ya, it's written like this, 1:.00087 (or there abouts). One rate, two expressions. 1:1166, 1:.00087 (or so)

8-27-2012 Mountainman: In 3 weeks Iraq will have it's first International Conference on banking and financial services. It will be held in London from September 18th-19th. Iraq's goal is to have the GOI's National Conference prior to this.
So, September is shaping up to be a very exciting month for us. I believe the Central Bank will be ready to make their move and present their case for a revaluation during this summit.

But in the meantime, they are limited to the Foreign Reserves to back the exchange rate. Anything is possible, and things can change. backing the exchange rate with the foreign reserves is the current reality. The Census Reports will give an accurate figure for revenue sharing.
Currently, production is not enough to run the GOI, and meet debt obligations. This is very likely to change in the future, but they are currently requiring supplemental borrowing to keep the GOI functioning.

Commission unifying projects oil and gas laws healed next Wednesday

Arbil (Rn) : Rapporteur of the Commission on oil and gas in the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Monday, that the Commission for the Unification of the three bills proposed oil and gas emanating from the Council, held its first meeting next Wednesday with the participation of representatives from the United Nations Mission to Iraq UNAMI.
It is said that there are three bills currently in the Iraqi parliament, was presented first project in 2007, but due to the failure to reach a consensus on it hung in the House of Representatives, and the second project was presented by the Commission on oil and energy parliamentary, either third project has been sent to the House of Representatives in 2011 by the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs Hussain al-Shahristani, however, none of these projects have not yet attained ratification by Parliament so far.

Central bank: a Warka Bank in terms of "formal" good

Iraq officials: Gunmen with silencers kill general

BAGHDAD (AP) : Iraqi officials say gunmen with silenced weapons killed an army Brigadier General just outside Baghdad, while two civilians died in separate attacks elsewhere in the country.
Police and medical officials said Monday the gunmen shot dead Brig. Gen. Abdul-Muhsen Khazal in the Sunni town of Taji, just north of the capital.
In Haditha, a roadside bomb went off near an army patrol, killing one civilian and wounding four soldiers, said Mohammed Fathi, a provincial spokesman in Iraq's western Anbar province.

Called Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki during a meeting with Iraqi Parliament Speaker yesterday, to the need for cooperation between the legislative and executive branches and end disputes over oil contracts. He stressed that Iraq is seeking to develop its military capabilities and defense, including "F-16s" that will reach their first meal in March, amid a hint Sadrists and the Iraqi List, again interrogate al-Maliki.
Maliki said in a statement issued by his office yesterday that "the Constitution should be the reference in the treatment of all things," stressing the need for "cooperation between the executive and legislative branches." He stressed the importance of "making progress on the path of reforms and address the issues on the basis of the Constitution, and particularly with regard to oil and gas laws and a general amnesty and accountability and justice, and move the functions needed in the way of state-building,"

Jihad said in a statement (of the Agency news): The bilateral meeting, which was held yesterday between Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and parliament speaker Osama al-Nujaifi stressed the need to resolve all outstanding problems and political reform.
