Sep 27 6:53 PM [cruiser] Good Evening all!!! Pretty exciting day. We had Iraq ask the United Nations for Chapter 7 removal. Anyone surprised? How come no one asked why they were moved up a day? They were scheduled to talk tomorrow. Also, Why did Iraq send their VP? Vp as in Vice President. If their VP is the Equavilant to the U.S that would be really strange. Why would the PM or President show up for this Epic meeting, unless they knew the outcome.
Had to get their country ready a celebration???? Maybe? Then you have the VND situation with Wells Fargo. Makes you start to wonder what is going on. How come no one is talking about Spain and what happened there today. They took 3B in Euro from their Social Securtiy reserve (the people) and use it for cash on hand. WOW that is a problem. Tomorrow is their Bank stress test or results ( not sure ) But I think it is results. I think they are going to fail, since Spainards have been taking all of their cash out of the banks.

9-27-2012 Enorrste: Based on the articles it looks that something serious will happen with their economy by January. The outside date for the value of the currency to be substantial, at least a dime, 25 cents, 50 cents, getting up into the Saudi Arabian numbers [1 Saudi riyal = 0.2667 US dollars] is Jan 1st.
A free float will get us there in 30, 60, maybe 90 days.

Global Currency Wars In Full Escalation

The worldwide currency debasement war has now entered a new and more deadly phase.
Central banks have escalated the combat plan to bring about the world's weakest currency for their individual countries. On the heels of the Federal Reserve and European Central Bank's promises of unlimited counterfeiting forever, the Bank of Japan announced last week that it would expand its purchase of Japanese Government Bonds (and other assets including equities) by 10 trillion Yen. This brings the latest round of BOJ intervention to a total of 80 trillion Yen!
The sad fact is that the developed world's central banks are in a desperate battle of one-upmanship. The ill-founded goal is to wreck their currency's value in relationship to other fiat currencies in order to boost manufacturing and stimulate economic growth. But once again these central bankers have their economics backwards.
A weak currency that is caused by printing money cannot create a more competitive market for a country's exports because it increases the cost of goods sold in terms of the domestic currency. Central banks reduce the value of their currency by lowering interest rates and boosting the money supply.
Is the US Government Now Borrowing Entirely from Itself?

Most people would puzzle over this question. How can anyone borrow from himself or herself? That's logically impossible for any of us to do.
The federal government, however, operates by different rules. The US government can borrow from itself because the Federal Reserve, a branch of the government, simply prints new money and then buys the government's bonds with the new money. If private individuals did this, it would be called counterfeiting, but governments get away with it.
The government has borrowed from itself ever since the Crash of 2008. By now the Fed, that is, the government, owns more US debt than anyone else, even more than Japan or China. And this excludes what the government holds in its phony social security trust funds. This just counts debt bought by the Fed.

The Currency Experiment Has Failed

In 1971 President Nixon closed the window that allowed US Dollars to be sold for gold owned by the US. Just before that, the price of gold was $35 an ounce. Since then gold has been called a 'barbarous relic', a term used in an earlier era by Keynes, the famous economist.
From that time on, the world's currencies stood merely on the confidence their governments engendered and the control they exercised over international financial dealings of all kinds. That confidence lasted until 2007 when the credit crunch brought government financing on both sides of the Atlantic into question.
Up until now the performance of the underlying value of currencies has hidden these questions as exchange rates are adequately 'managed' through swap arrangements to stabilize exchange rate movements to the extent that violent moves don't happen. But the real value of currencies in terms of their real solvency is now a matter of open debate. As of now, relative to the amount of gold available to markets, the price of gold is the only measure of value that currencies can be held to. We look at that and look at the conditions that are determining the value of currencies now and in the future.

Iraq parliament picks commission for next election

Iraq's parliament has selected the ninth, final member of the election commission supposed to be in charge of the upcoming provincial and general elections.
Lawmaker Muqdad al-Shuraifi, himself a member of the new commission, said legislators on Thursday chose Turkoman representative Kulshan Kamal.
Parliament last week approved the other eight members of the Independent High Electoral Commission, which is to supervise the 2013 provincial and the 2014 general elections.
Mr Barzani labels Baghdad agreement over oil positive move

AK News reported that Mr Nechirvan Barzani PM of the Kurdistan Regional Government stated the agreement signed by Baghdad and KRG in a last week's meeting in Baghdad over oil will not solve all problems between the two sides yet it is an important and positive move.
Mr Barzani said that Iraq's Council of Ministers and its counterpart in the KRG have approved the agreement points of Baghdad meeting. He believed this agreement is a move toward good direction.
The agreement contained clauses which require Baghdad to pay the suspended dues of the investigating oil companies in the Kurdistan Region from 2012 budget in addition to allocation of a share of refined fuel to the Kurdistan.
