9-5-2012 Intel Guru Footforward Info is all over the place, misinformation, things are just crazy, even coming out of Iraq. Biden went to Iraq, not even for a full day...he was not wanted there & turned around and came back.
There are some people there from the U. S., they have not delayed things. They are expecting something to happen very quickly. Good news on the Iraq front. Audits were done in the banks, they closed the banks at the last minute to make sure coins and lower denoms are not missing, they are keeping tight tabs on exactly what they have. That's why they had this bank holiday in Iraq.
The information coming out of the banks on the American side of the pond is very, very, very optimistic, at a level I have never seen before. They're definitely looking for something to happen right away. I still expect the rate to be good, I expect it to be in the double digits. As far as a date, I expect something right away, as early as this week. Everything that needs to be in motion is in motion. I can't find any source that tells me this will be delayed.

9-4-2012 SWFloridaGuy: Again I'm seeing gurus in the rooms tell members not to read articles and just trust in the rumors. We all know how unreliable certain reports out of Iraq can be but don't let anyone tell you not to do your own research and just trust in them and their "Sources," also known as the "Roller Coaster." Don't ever limit yourself, read whatever you can get your hands on.
Examine all constituent elements (both political and economic), put the pieces together and then formulate your own educated analysis. We can of course also use this process to eliminate plenty of imbecilic or less pragmatic sources along the way (second to second hypers whose names I won't mention). The only way we can educate ourselves is by taking the time to do our own research.
We should utilize every tool at our disposal, whether it's to research currency reform, IMF/World Bank reports, the study of macroeconomic analysis, the history of large currency appreciation shocks, confirming which laws have been passed and read into the Gazette, Iraqi Legal Database, reviewing statements from the CBI, GOI, Finance Committee or just some random economist stating his opinion.
Like with all information we receive, we must consider the source and use our best judgment as to the author's credibility. None of us have all the answers and we've all been wrong in the past but with such a large group working together, researching, utilizing our time and resources, we can all come to a better understanding as to where we stand.

BAGHDAD: Iraq's central government is considering cutting federal budget payments to the country's Kurdistan by more than $3 billion to cover losses it says came from the autonomous region's oil exports, a government spokesman said on Tuesday.
Ali al-Moussawi, advisor to Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, said a committee found losses of more than $3 billion resulting from Kurdistan's failure to pump the amount of oil agreed in the budget, and from its recent halting of oil exports.
"In today's cabinet meeting we gave a delegation from the Kurdistan regional government a week to come to Baghdad to discuss this or we will move ahead and deduct this amount from their budget share," he said.

9-4-2012 War: This may or may not be of any significance but for some reason all the banks are closed today. Normally they give us some sort of heads-up, and post a sign on the door in advance, but for some reason this was not talked about or scheduled.

But any single commodity will have the disadvantage that it represents only a part of the total package essential to human or economic exchange. On the other hand we cannot use commodities that do not have a high degree of universal usefulness.

9-4-2012 Tony (PTR): From seven different sources that they (lower denoms, coins) are there and they came with directions. In Columbus, Ohio (and other locations) Chase and Fifth/Third were doing currency exchange training yesterday.
Why would they bring in their people on a holiday to do currency exchange training? Something they were anticipating. Everybody is still anticipating this month. Between now and the middle of the month anything can happen. US contracts in Iraq getting paid $4.41 rate.

They are anticipating some currency changes, anticipating having to deal with a lot of Forex activity, and some major readjustments and people coming in; training tellers how to handle foreign currency. So when you see that you know that something is about ready to break.

The banks are looking at it in the same anticipation as we are. I am expecting some more positive things going on this week, hopefully some announcements.

Blocs agree not to pass the supplementary budget

Baghdad / Mohammad Sabah : political blocs decided not to vote on the supplementary budget if presented in the House of Representatives, attributed to it contrary to all the laws of financial management. And confirmed the Liberal bloc in Parliament, "she and the Kurdistan Alliance and the Iraqi List, will not vote on this budget if presented to a vote."
He considered the Kurdistan Alliance Send the central government to the law of the supplementary budget again after refusing earlier, "is contrary to the rules of procedure of the Council."
It is noteworthy that the rules of procedure of the House of Representatives provides in Article (126) that the proposed laws that are rejected by the board or drawn by their sponsors may not be re- presented in session itself, but needs to be another six months.

[SWFloridaGuy] Just wanted to give everyone that update I said I would on the group that left from Tampa. Just got a call from her. They arrived in Reno today and were promised that they wouldn't have to even spend the night, that they would be able to cash out and be flown directly back. The group is now stuck there. They had demanded to deal directly with the bank and not some 3rd party negotiator. That was not the case once they arrived there. For whatever reason they now can't reach their contact there who set this up and they are all very upset. They are now forced to spend the night and have no idea what's going on. This is a pretty large group and I'm sure others in the rooms know people who were foolish enough to go along for the ride. I feel bad for the group but many did try to warn them. I'll keep everyone updated on how long they stay and what transpires.
