[TERRYK] I was able to get an update on Talabani. He was scheduled to meet with Maliki in Baghdad on September 2. His health got bad and he flew back to Germany and is in the hospital again. He said he is going to try and come back to Iraq either September 10th or the 11th and meet with Maliki then and set a time for the National Conference
[TERRYK] . He told the media that an announcement will be made on TV September 15, giving the new date of the RV. He will then be leaving for the big financial conference in London on September 18 & 19. Also, after that meeting, Saleh will be meeting with the IMF in London and giving them the new RV rate

Money Magazine had an interesting article in the September 2010 issue titled "Do You Have What It Takes To Be Wealthy?" The article comprised of 15 questions aimed to tell you if, indeed, you have a good chance to be rich.
I aced it (if you consider having a solid chance of being rich a good thing, that is), but what is the definition of being wealthy anyway? Is it just a number we call net worth? Or is it something else all together?
I was given a tour the other day of a $6 million dollar home. Apparently, the owner bought the piece of land for $4 million and spent $10 million building the custom house on the site.

I was born in China and it was a place where wealthy people were the public enemy for many decades. The sentiment was spread by the propaganda of the Communist government and resulted in the execution and imprisonment of many families who were considered to be rich.
I still remember the songs about overthrowing landlords and the greatness of the working class, but are the wealthy really evil?
Even though I live in America now, I feel that the idea that rich people are evil is also very prevalent here. A popular phrase that is often thrown around is "money is root of all evil". This is a misquoted version of 1 Timothy 6:10 in which the Apostle Paul states, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil."

9-6-2012 Tony (PTR): They still haven't changed it from this month so I still got to go with this month. The bank thinks it is going to be today. So do some people at the For ex. People in Washington think it is going to be. They all thought since Monday that it was going to be Thursday.
Over in Iraq the banks were closed on Monday. Tuesday they opened the banks but they wouldn't let anybody take any money out of the bank. Yesterday (Wednesday) they were letting people take money out of the bank but they were telling them they shouldn't. Something is going to happen.
You shouldn't take your money out but they let them take it out if they wanted to. All those are signs that we have to look at. Something else happened at the banks today which was unusual once again but is good and it tells me that it is closer rather than farther away.

Kurdistan Oil Dispute Must be Resolved Soon
06 September 2012 The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has extended its deadline for the federal government to pay the money it says it is due in respect of oil exports to 15th September, after which time it will again halt exports of Kurdish crude. Baghdad, on the other hand, has threatened to trim Erbil's budget by $3 billion as a result of the KRG's failure to ship the budgeted quantities of oil. Meanwhile, the country rations food and continues to suffer from electricity shortages and run-down infrastructure. Despite record oil exports, Iraq can ill afford to lose the revenues from 175,000 barrels of oil per day, totalling over £500 million per month, and both sides must find a way to resolve their differences before the deadline at the end of next week. Zain Iraq has Bank Funds Seized for Unpaid Fine
06 September 2012 Zain Iraq has had its funds seized in all Iraqi banks until it pays a $262 million fine for selling 5 million SIM cards without permission, Bloomberg reports. "We have warned them to pay the fine," Ahmad al-Omari, a member of the Communications and Media Commission's trustee board, told the news agency. "This procedure has been carried out as a punishment." In February of last year, the Commission imposed the fine and gave the company three months to pay. Its chief executive, Emad Makiya, told Reuters it would appeal the fine. Click for Link
Iraq to make Gas Exploration Deals more Attractive
06 September 2012 An Iraqi Oil Ministry spokesman has said the Ministry will make future energy exploration contracts more lucrative, to encourage foreign firms to compete in auctions for exploration blocks. "Economic and financial aspects will be reviewed in light of our experiences", said Assem Jihad. "The final details of the contracts will be worked out between the foreign companies and the oil ministry." In recent weeks the deputy prime minister responsible for energy affairs, Hussein al-Shahristani (pictured), admitted that the recent fourth round auction of exploration blocks had not been as successful as officials had hoped. Automobile Factory to be Built in Sulaymaniya
06 September 2012 Sulaymaniya's general directorate of investment has said that a local company called 'Mario' is building an automobile factory on a 22 hectare (90 donum) site. The company will initially import parts from China and assemble them at the new plant; at a later stage the factory will also make the parts itself, according to a report from AKnews. The land has been allocated in an industrial area near Arabt, 27km south of Sulaymaniya, and there is the option to expand the site depending on requirements. Click for Link

The daily bulletin issued by the Central Bank that "demand for dollar distributed 4 million and $ 680,000 in cash sold, while the amounts of money orders $ 254 million, and select price b JD $ 1,179 covered by the Bank amounted to IQD exchange rate for each $ 1166."

9-6-2012 Mountainman: Looking forward to Talabani's return and National Meeting. Every day we're hearing the ministers are going to be announced. They have been saying this for a long time but I think the no-confidence vote option is one that Maliki won't take.
This is the real deal and when T returns, Biden will visit and help push this through. Parliament is also working hard on passing the oil and gas law.

The NID (new Iraqi dinar) has never been on par with the USD, only the old Swiss dinar (named after printing plates) held those levels and has long since been demonetized. In order for the NID to RV to equal to one US penny, they'd have to remove 90% of the IQD from their M2.
Half of their M2 is digital, which also convolutes matters. Iraq has $62 billion in currency with $100 billion in GDP which puts them at 62% of their GDP. The US has a $14 Trillion GDP and a M2 of about 10 trillion dollars. Iraq has a GDP of $100 billion and a M2 of 72 trillion.

Ministry of Planning announced the completion of the mechanisms to distribute 25% of the oil surplus to be distributed among the Iraqi people.
He said Planning Minister Ali Shukri said in a press statement yesterday that "the Ministry of Planning announced the completion of the mechanisms to distribute 25% of the oil surplus to be distributed among the Iraqi people." He explained that "the ministry is working to accelerate the implementation of the budget commensurate with the nature of the Iraqi economy in the next stage."
