Ye Olde College Inn Supports G.U.L.F.
G.U.L.F. would like to welcome a new partner to our Restaurant Partnership Program . Ye Olde College Inn is a farm-to-table restaurant and bar, promoting the use of local ingredients in their food. With their urban farm right next to the restaurant, fresh produce and herbs are always a part of the menu at Ye Olde College Inn.

Looking for a way to support this new partner and G.U.L.F.? Then join us on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Ye Olde College Inn, where 20% of the proceeds from bar, food, and take-out will be donated to G.U.L.F.

G.U.L.F. to Participate in Derelict Crab Trap Rodeo
Each year, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries closes certain waters to crab fishing so that derelict traps can be removed. Derelict traps are those that are lost, abandoned or discarded in the marine environment. Over time, these traps can continue to catch not only blue crabs, but other species as well, such as fish, other crab species, and occasionally diamondback terrapin. This is a phenomenon known as ghost fishing. Lost traps can also become a navigational hazard, with lines being caught in propellers or traps being caught by other fishing vessels such as shrimp trawls.

If you are a Louisiana resident and would like to participate in a trap clean up, there are two opportunities to do so:

February 13: Pontchartrain Basin -
register to volunteer
February 20: Jean Lafitte Harbor - register to volunteer

Other Gulf states conduct trap clean ups as well. If you are located in one of those states, click
here for more information about cleanup efforts.
