Dinner or Supper? 10/18/15

Dinner Or Supper? 10/18/15

Luke 14:12-14 (KJV)
12  Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.

13  But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:

14  And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

I believe ole Luke was a southern man!!

Down south, (I don't know about the rest of the country?) WE call lunch DINNER and supper, (the evening meal), SUPPER!

Kind of like the age-old, BURNING question regarding how to hang toilet paper-OVER OR UNDER!!??

Greetings today from Foley, AL.-my home away from home.

It is 50 degrees here this morning with a high of 70 plus later on.

God is GOOD and it has been a WONDERFUL, yet always trying trip-I have now totaled 4 seafood platters dinners (IE. Lunches).

The above Scriptures says it all:

Luke 14:13 (KJV)
13  But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:

I was asked this past week to do some "GRUNT WORK."

GRUNT WORK is work that few, if anybody, sees or commends.

This Church in Foley is the real deal-they do it all!

BTW, I highly recommend and applaud my fellow Pastor's word today-probably the BEST argument I have ever heard for attending Church:

Every Wednesday morning this Church opens its doors to the poor and needy.

MUCH time and WORK is expended by MANY all week-EVERY WEEK-to collect food and clothing to be GIVEN to any and all.

They have to drive many miles to neighboring Mobile, AL., at the Churches expense and haul precious food stuffs back to the Church.

Then the food has to be processed and bagged and then people distribute it to needy souls of every stripe and nationality.

I was asked to be a PRAYER WARRIOR!!

My job was to PRAY for any and all as needed.

At the expense of losing my "ALMS," I share this information with you:

Matthew 6:1-5 (KJV)
1  Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2  Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3  But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4  That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

5  And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

As I PRAYED for the people, I thanked God for the side of the table I was on!

I HAVE been on the other side of the table!

I AM on the other side of the table, here in Foley, AL.

This CHURCH has opened its arms AND its pocketbook to BLESS weary Pastors and FREELY provide comfort and rest to full time soldiers of the Cross.

I, along with countless other Pastors can NEVER repay or DO what this Body does!!!

Luke 14:14 (KJV)
14  And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

Just as the poor and needy came here to RECEIVE, they and myself cannot "RECOMPENSE!"

Today, if YOU have the ways and means to BLESS another, consider YOURSELF "MORE blessed!"

Acts 20:35 (KJV)
35  I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

" IT IS MORE BLESSED TO TO GIVE THAN TO RECEIVE!"

What side of the table do YOU reside on today??????

Is it "dinner or supper?"

Over or under????

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)
18  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

God Bless YOU today!
