On September 30, 2016, the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) will retire procedure code G0154 for home health nursing in an effort to conform to recent federal policy changes.
Effective October 1, 2016, a visit conducted by a registered nurse (RN) for the provision of home health nursing services must be billed to ODM using billing code G0299 (in lieu of G0154 with modifier TD) and a visit conducted by a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for the provision of home health nursing services must be billed using the code G0300 (in lieu of G0154 with modifier TE).
The new codes are listed in Appendix A to Ohio Administrative Code rule 5160-12-05. The changes apply only to providers of home health nursing services and do not impact the TD or TE modifiers as used to denote private duty nursing services (T1000) provided by an RN or LPN.
Aetna Better Health of Ohio, which follows the Medicaid Fee Schedule, will also discontinue procedure code G0154 effective September 30, 2016. Aetna Better Health of Ohio's claim system will accept G0154 until October 1, 2016.
