Extra Care Weekend
Gretchen Patti

Our Stephen Ministers invite you to be extra caring this weekend. Greet everyone with a smile. Find out if there’s anything you can do for them. Give them an extra hug. Let’s make Immanuel an extra caring place, not only this weekend, but every day.
Don't Let the Mosquitoes Get it!
SUN., JUL. 8, 8-NOON

The American Red Cross urges everyone to make an appointment to give blood or platelets now and help sustain a sufficient community blood supply this summer. While the need for blood is constant during the summer months, the Red Cross experiences a drastic decline in new donors. Nationwide, about one-third fewer new donors came out to give last summer than during the rest of the year. In addition, current donors often delay giving due to summer vacation plans. While about 38 percent of the population is eligible to give blood, less than 10 percent of those eligible actually do. The blood donation process takes about an hour with the actual donation only taking about 10 minutes. Donors at Immanuel’s July 8 drive will receive this t-shirt as a thank you gift. Sign up for the blood drive in the lobby or at .

GIANT Indoor Garage Sale at Immanuel
Cindy Rueffer

The Immanuel Garage Sale is only three weeks away! I just met a church neighbor who was dropping off donations. She said, "We can't wait for the sale—so many people look forward to this sale!" This is such a unique outreach. We couldn't have this sale without your donations and your volunteer hours. Thank you!
Drop off is in full swing. ILS Middle schoolers from (and any other interested volunteers) will assist you at the door on Wed., Jul. 11, from 6-7 PM and on Sun., Jul. 8 and 15, from 9-9:30 AM. Items can be dropped off during the day as well. Donations will be accepted until Wed., Jul. 18, 11 AM. Please take furniture donations to the Fellowship Hall and all others to the triangle.

We are looking for middle school volunteers—and anyone else willing to help—to unload vehicles when items are being dropped off for the sale. Helpers are needed: Sun., Jul. 8, and 15, 9-9:30 AM and Wed., Jun. 27 and Jul. 11, 6-7 PM. Please contact Cindy Rueffer at if you are able to help.
Spread Some Sunshine!
The Sunshine Committee is in need of volunteers to deliver Immanuel’s altar flowers to shut-ins in August and November. It is a rewarding job and people are always glad to receive both the flowers and the visits. Some long-time Sunshine visitors are no longer driving or able to carry the vases; so new volunteers are needed. For more information, please contact Margaret Anderson at 630 879 5096.

Saluting a Hero
SAT., AUG. 11, 11:15 AM
Join us as we salute Immanuel’s Own Hero, SPC Christopher Patterson as the Chris Patterson Memorial Foundation Motorcycle Ride passes our campus. Join us on the lawn by 11:15 AM and help us salute our hero and support his family and friends.
Chris was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church who gave his life while serving with the Indiana National Guard in Afghanistan on Jan. 6, 2012. He loved the performing arts and was an actor, singer, and musician who performed with various groups. The Chris Patterson Memorial Foundation will split proceeds from the ride between Freedom Farm for Vets and performing arts at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School. Let’s show our appreciation for Christopher’s sacrifice and his family’s generosity.
Contact Lori St.Vincent at 630 879 7163 or with questions and visit or email Bob Patterson at for ride details.
