Saluting Our Hero
Sat., Aug. 11, 11:15 AM out on the lawn at ILCS
Join us as we salute Immanuel’s Own Hero, SPC Christopher Patterson as the Chris Patterson Memorial Foundation Motorcycle Ride passes our campus. Join us on the lawn by 11:15 AM and help us salute our hero and support his family and friends.

Chris was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church who gave his life while serving with the Indiana National Guard in Afghanistan on Jan. 6, 2012. He loved the performing arts and was an actor, singer, and musician who performed with various groups. The Chris Patterson Memorial Foundation will split proceeds from the ride between Freedom Farm for Vets and performing arts at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School. Let’s show our appreciation for Christopher’s sacrifice and his family’s generosity.

Contact Lori St.Vincent with questions and visit chrispattersonmemorial.org/events or email Bob Patterson at [email protected] for ride details.
Summer Sermon Series
Difficult Passages in the Bible Sermon Series, Jul. 14-Aug. 12
We love to read the Bible to hear the wonderful message of a great God who loves us passionately. It tells us of a love so immense that it would take Jesus to the cross in a radical act that would make us perfect in the eyes of our Heavenly Father. However, in the midst of this incredible love story are verses that cause us to stop and scratch our heads. We wonder how this loving God could say some of the things the Bible claims He said. Did God really say I can ask for anything and He will give it to me? Why would a loving God command His people to kill in the Old Testament? Are divorcees committing adultery if they remarry? Passages like these have led to misinterpretations and misunderstandings that have left people broken and hurting. In this series we will explore some of these difficult passages in the Bible and seek to come to an understanding of each that will grow our faith in our loving God. Click on sermon titles in blue below to hear that sermon.

Spread Some Sunshine!
The Sunshine Committee is in need of volunteers to deliver Immanuel’s altar flowers to shut-ins in August and November. It is a rewarding job and people are always glad to receive both the flowers and the visits. Some long-time Sunshine visitors are no longer driving or able to carry the vases; so new volunteers are needed. For more information, please contact Margaret Anderson at 630 879 5096.
Due to a change in flower providers, altar flower sponsorships will now cost $25 per arrangement. New envelopes are available that reflect this change under the flower calendar outside the church office.
Produce Exchange
Give thanks for the blessings God gives through your garden, and share any “over-blessings” you have. A produce exchange area is set up between the doors outside the sanctuary. Bring your over abundance and take something you’re craving!
