Meet Your PTA
Hi! I'm Steph Olsen and this year I am the Secretary for PTA. I have also served as the Volunteer Coordinator. I have truly enjoyed my time working with PTA because it contributes to the whole school but also has helped me get to know so many wonderful parents at Discovery!
I work full time as a Product Development Specialist for Central Insurance Companies which generally means telecommuting but sometimes means I spend a week in Ohio once in a while.
I grew up as an Air Force brat but since landing in Tennessee have grown to love it and call it home.
Our PTA Programs Chairperson, Michael Guess, is the father of two Discovery School Explorers, Wesley (Lloyd - 3) and Emily (Mullen - K) and the lucky husband of seventeen years to Maria (Fua), a frequent Discovery School volunteer. In addition to the Discovery School PTA, Michael also serves as the Kindergarten Representative and PTA Liaison for the WATCHDogs Program. An avid Boston Red Sox fan, Michael also enjoys volunteering as a coach for his children's sports teams, traveling with his family, and supporting the MTSU Blue Raiders sports teams! Professionally, Michael is the President & CEO of 16DIGITAL, a digital advertising and web development agency based in Nashville, TN.

Books from Birth Coin Drive
When my kids were tiny one of my favorite days of the month was when their books would arrive in the mail from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. I'm sure many of you have similar fond memories of those amazing books that are now a part of your child's home library.
This month we have the chance to give back! Discovery School is having a coin drive and will be donating 100% of collections to the Governor's Books from Birth Foundation, the organization that directly funds the Imagination Library.
Our coin drive will run Monday, March 13
th through Friday, March 17
th.
We will collect coins as follows:
Penny Monday
Nickel Tuesday
Dime Wednesday
Quarter Thursday
Anything Goes Friday
Every cent counts!
Did you know that just $60 provides one child with their ENTIRE Imagination Library? That's 60 books between birth and kindergarten delivered to their door for free. What an amazing way to give someone a head start at reading! I wonder how many children we can fully fund? Are you up to the challenge? Start digging for that loose change and bring it in to Mrs. Shepherd in the library starting Monday the 13
th!
