Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

I hope you are wearing blue today!  Yes I know you think I meant green... but the color most associated with Patrick is actually blue.

Also, did you know that Saint Patrick was not actually Irish? If you are interested in reading more about the real Saint Patrick watch this short video.  History is usually more meaningful than tradition!

Even so, it is fun to celebrate good 'ol Saint Paddy's Day! Now if you plan to go out this evening and enjoy e few green beers... please do so in moderation. The real St. Paddy probably wouldn't have approved of drunkenness.

What Saint Patrick would approve of is a life of service... to God, the church and the community!  So maybe on this Saint Patrick's Day you can help us out with a few areas of service?

We are still in need of a few more male buddies for our A Night to Remember event (see below). We have so many guests... we need more of you MEN to step up and be a buddy for a special needs guest. You can do it!

We could also use several more game operators for our annual Easter Eggstravaganza (also see below).  We provide this huge carnival style event for FREE to the community... but it does take quite a few people to pull it off. This is a great way for people to learn more about Discovery and a fun way to invite them to church on Easter!

Please take a minute to respond to the volunteer requests below.  Don't just be a consumer... give back!

This Sunday we are going to continue in our series The God We Wish You Knew with a look at how incredibly Faithful our God is to us.  I hope we will see you on Sunday... until then, have fun and behave yourselves!

Easter Egg'stravaganza
Saturday, April 8  *  4-6 PM

Make sure to invite your friends to the Easter Egg'stravaganza, a FREE community event sponsored by Discovery!  There will be carnival games, inflatables, crafts, free food, prizes, thousands of candy filled plastic eggs, and the Easter Bunny!  Last year we estimate more than 3,000 people from the community attended this event.  This is a great opportunity to have a lot of fun with new people, while we introduce them to who we are as a church!  So invite everyone you know and don't forget to bring a basket for all your candy filled eggs!  Contact Stacie Salva for more information.

Egg'stravaganza Volunteers
Saturday, April 8  *  4-6 PM

We are looking for a few more volunteers to help run carnival games, serve food, and paint faces from 4-6 pm on Saturday, April 8. Please contact Stacie if you can help in one of these ways. You can reach her via email Stacie Salva or by calling the office at 724.779.1010.

We will have a place in the lobby for you to "lay your eggs."  We also need donations of bottled water and Capri Sun drinks.  These items can be donated each Sunday through April 1.  Please mark your "flap" on Sunday or contact Stacie Salva if you can help.

A Night to Remember Volunteer Opportunities
Every year Discovery hosts a HUGE red carpet event for hundreds of our friends in the community with special needs (ages 16 to 40). This year's event is on Sunday, April 30. We have already had a huge response for volunteer sign ups, but there are still a few specific roles we need help with. To sign up for one of these positions contact Jennifer Howell (buddies) or Sarah Matusek (event volunteers) for more information.

Mandatory event training will be April 23. Visit here for more information about this event.

Discovery on Mission
One of the main goals of Journey Groups is to serve together to connect more and more people with Jesus.  Sometimes we say, we want to MOVE together.  While all Journey Groups engage in serving, this group is highly committed to consistently helping others throughout our community.  Each month we'll engage in different projects and objectives to serve others throughout the year in local missions each week.  If you would like to be a part of this group mark your "flap" on Sunday or if you have questions, please contact
Nick Ranjan .
Infertility Support Group

Approximately 6-10% of married couples are infertile, meaning that they can't get or stay pregnant.  This statistic affects Christians and churchgoers, too.  Infertility is lonely.  If you find yourself in this group, we want you to know that you are loved and you are not alone.  Please consider joining our private group where frustration is met w
ith friendship.  If you think that you may benefit from hearing about similar experiences, sharing medical information, or being reminded that you are important apart from being someone's mom or dad, please contact Debbie Harrington or send her a private Facebook message.
Haine Homework Help
Haine Middle School has asked us to help with a monthly after school homework program on Wednesdays from 3-4 PM.  We love being able to serve and connect with the schools in our area, and are excited to provide some awesome people to help walk kids through their homework.  Interested?  Please email Todd Ransom.
Prayer Requests
If you have a prayer request that you would like the prayer team to pray for,  please mark the "flap" on Sunday or email your request. Let us know f you would like your request to remain anonymous.  If you would like to be added to the list of people who receives and prays for requests each week, please email us and we will add you to the prayer updates.
