Good afternoon everyone...

Our men's retreat is coming up quickly... the deadline for sign-ups is this Sunday (see "Man Camp" below).  Make sure you plan on joining us!

At Discovery we like to have a good time, but we like to have a good time on purpose. And my hope for the men's retreat is that we would not just have a good time, but that we would be challenged to be   the men that God has called   us to be.

You know, so many men in our culture push away from community... we reason we don't need anyone's help. We can handle it on our own. I get it... Me Too.   But what I have found is that real strength comes from admitting weakness and realizing that we DO need help in this life.

Last week we kicked off our series, The Bible Doesn't Say That, by spending a majority of our time discussing this very idea that "God won't give us more than what we can handle."  And what we discovered is that not only is that phrase NOT in the Bible... it actually contradicts it.  If you missed last week, click on the series graphic to the right and watch or listen online.

This week we will be taking a peak at another phrase that gets tossed around a lot... this one actually has some truth to it.  And that is what probably makes it so dangerous. You really don't want to miss this week. I think what we will be discussing is something we all need to hear.  What is the phrase we will be covering? You'll have to join us to find out.

Merge is a one-day fall retreat for local young adults in Pittsburgh. It's an opportunity for young adults from different churches across Pittsburgh to gather for worship, teaching, prayer, and conversation.  This year we're focusing on the "Holy Ghost", an older phrase that is just unfamiliar enough to make us reconsider what we think we know about the Holy Spirit.  The early bird cost is $16 and includes meals for the entire day from breakfast to evening s'mores.  Go here for more information or to register. Questions?  Contact Todd.  Space is limited, register early.
