New Interim Executive Director

Nicole Nevill recently wrapped up her time as the Interim Executive Director for Distinguished Young Women. During her tenure, Nicole was essential in securing additional sponsors for the organization to ensure our continued success. We want to thank her for all of her hard work and dedication to the organization.

As the Search Committee continues their quest to find a permanent Executive Director, we are pleased to announce that Pam Patterson has accepted the position of Interim Executive Director for Distinguished Young Women. For the past twenty-three years, Pam has volunteered in various capacities with the organization and has been an integral part of the team. Some of her prior roles include serving as a judge for state programs, as a member for the Travel Support Team, and for the past eight years, as the Chairman of National Finals, where she worked closely with the Executive Director.

Pam is from Mobile, Alabama, and graduated with highest honors from the University of Alabama. She is a retired educator from the Mobile County Public School System and has also recently served as the Assistant Director of Field Services for the K-6 Education Program at the University of South Alabama where she was honored with the Excellence in Clinical Supervision Award by the College of Education.

You can contact Pam at [email protected] or 251-438-3621 (office) or 251-422-1509 (cell).

As Distinguished Young Women begins 2014, we are thankful for the many successes we have had and the continued growth of this fine program. We look forward to many more successful years and thank you for your continued support.

National Representative Spotlight

January has proven to be a very busy month for our National Representative, Nicole Renard. She traveled to Mobile, Alabama on January 1st to begin her month-long sojourn in the South. While she was in town she participated in various events for the GoDaddy Bowl Game, visited the campuses of both the University of South Alabama and the University of Alabama, traveled to Washington, DC to meet with Senators and Congressmen, attended the Alabama State Program in Montgomery, filmed a PSA for Distinguished Young Women, and also attended the Reese's Senior Bowl.

All of this and more happened in just one month! We could not be more proud to have such a wonderful young woman representing our organization! Check out the Be Distinguished Blog to read about all of her adventures.
