Councilmember Raul Peralez challenges you and the entire D3 team to bike up this May 2015!  It's time to pull San Jos? out of our cars and into the streets.  

Living in what has historically been known as a commuter town, you may not realize that there are many of your neighbors, businesses, and organizations that you pass by every day on the go.  Join our entire team as we make every day in May Bike to Work Day!  Take public transportation, ride your bike, rent a bike, or enjoy a walk!

Learn About Your City's Spending Plan
Ever wonder what happens to your tax dollars and how decisions are made to put them to work?  D3 residents are invited to learn and offer feedback about how the City plans to spend our resources.  Join us May 14th at 6:00 p.m. at Roosevelt Community Center*, 901 East Santa Clara Street, San Jos?, CA 95116.

Free Urban Biking Workshop
Join D3 San Jos? and Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition for a FREE workshop to learn the rules of the road, tips on riding with traffic, how to use Bay Area Bike Share, and Safety guidelines for a safe riding experience in the city.

D3 neighbors are invited to come out for some one-on-one face time at our casual "Coffee with My Councilmember" on Saturday 5/30 from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. at The Bold Knight Bistro at 840 N 1st St, San Jose, CA 95112

Each month, he'll host a similar chat at rotating locally-owned business venues throughout the district. Can't make it this month?  Join us for coffee instead on 6/27 from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. at Bel Bacio Imported Italian Coffee in Little Italy at 350 W Julian Street, San Jose, CA  95110.  
Rent a Blue Bike Downtown

Conveniently check out a blue bike for short trips in downtown San Jos? from Bike Share. Day passes are $9 and Annual passes are $88. Ride to lunch, take a coffee break, run an errand, or connect to public transit. Bikes are available at 16 stations in the downtown area. Bikes may be checked out from and returned to any station.  ~ Learn More ~

Thurs, 4/30 - Community Meeting for Streetscape Improvements on 2nd, 3rd, & 10th Streets.  Learn about plans for pavement maintenance, street improvements, lane reductions, and bikeway projects.  

Fri, 5/1 - May Day: San Jos? March for International Workers Day.  2 p.m. Rally at Story/King Roads near Target Plaza; 3 p.m. Gather for march, 4 p.m. March begins; 5:45 p.m. Closing rally at San Jose City Hall.  

Sat, 5/2 - San Jose Sharks Super Sale.  Combines the annual used equipment sale and the Sharks Store Clearance Sale on the floor of the SAP Center.  A great opportunity for deep discounts on great Sharks merchandise and equipment. 50% off everything (excluding jerseys)!  9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the floor of the SAP Center.  
 


Thurs, 5/14Bike to Work Day 2015. The weather will be perfect; the streets will be filled with people on bikes; energizer stations will dot the landscape, staffed by volunteers eager to pass out treats and encouragement. 

Sat, 5/16 - MACLA's 25th Anniversary & Art Auction.  Celebrating 25 years of Latino arts and culture in Silicon Valley.  View the very best in contemporary Latino art from the Bay Area and beyond now through 5/16.  Beginning 6:00 p.m. join the reception, live auction, live music, and Loter?a. Having a good time?  Join the after party celebration as well!

Thurs, 5/17 -  Salsa Sunday Brunch.  The Shop With a Cop Silicon Valley Foundation will host its 3rd annual fundraiser featuring San Jos?'s Latin Band:  Cafecito at 11:30 a.m. at the Loft Bistro, 90 South 2nd Street, San Jos?, CA  95113.

Tues, 5/19 - Update on Real Solutions to Housing & Homelessness.  On 4/7, your City Council voted to direct Housing Department staff to bring back an update with concrete plans that can be carried out over the next 18-months since the Story Road Encampment was closed.  We look forward to hearing their report at Council on Tues 5/19.  Join us in City Council Chambers or catch the live stream of meetings here .  

As part of Affordable Housing Week 2015, join us at 6:30 p.m. for a documentary screening of Hotel 22 with Director Elizabeth Lo at 101 W. Santa Clara Street, San Jos?, CA  95113. A panel discussion for a conversation about the different types of service delivery necessary to reach people living outside and gaps in the current system will follow the screening.  Light refreshments will be served.   This event is free, but space is limited and registration is required

Tues, 5/26 - DST Mobile Caf? Fundraiser. Join us at 5:00 p.m. at the Glass House at 2 South Market, San Jos?, CA  95113 to raise funds for a newly developing social enterprise that will create a sustainable business model that employs homeless people and permanently transition them out into homes.
