City of El Paso, 2014 Artwork Purchase Program

Deadline May 1, 2014


The Museums & Cultural Affairs Department is building a public collection of artwork created by El Paso Area artists that recognizes the artistic talent and cultural diversity in El Paso, Texas. The artwork is placed in City buildings for the benefit and enjoyment of the general public.

The artwork will become part of the City of El Paso Art Collection and will be installed at the following new City buildings:

El Paso City Hall, located at 300 N. Campbell,

Luther Building, located at 218 N. Campbell,

Texas Building, located at 801 Texas Ave.


Applications must be submitted using the Call for Entry (CAF´┐Ż) online application system at Click on "Apply to Calls" and click on "City of El Paso, 2014 Artwork Purchase Program." All entries must be submitted before the deadline of May 1, 2014, 5:00 p.m. (MST).

City Representative Emma Acosta Will Be a Speaker at The Heritage Tourism Summit

El Paso, Texas: City Representative Emma Acosta will be speaking at the Heritage Tourism Summit. Rep Acosta will open up the Town Hall Meeting that will be live streamed on TV. She will be speaking on the importance of  creating a more progressive way of preserving the El Paso Cultural Heritage. The event will be at the Downtown Convention Center on March 22, 2014 from 8:00 am to 5:00pm with the Town Hall Meeting at 12:30 pm.

Representative Acosta states, "Preserving our Cultural Heritage is a pertinent necessity to the self-pride of the El Paso Community."

The public and media are encouraged to attend.   


Aquatics Business Plan Community

The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department will have an Aquatic Business Plan developed over the next couple of months by the Aquatic Design Group in association with CDM Smith, Inc. 

The Plan will provide background data and metric analysis to assist the city in analyzing current and future programming as the 2012 Quality of Life Bond is implemented.


One part of the study is to conduct meetings with area citizens to identify and document the current, desired and potential programs that the El Paso 2012 Quality of Life Bond Projects can support.


There will be another meeting open to the public at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Sierra Providence East, 3280 Joe Battle Blvd. on the first floor in Classroom #1 to discuss the specifics of the Business Plan.

El Paso, Texas: City Representative Emma Acosta be reading the Wounded Warriors Caregivers Proclamation at the Wounded Warriors 5K run on March 22, 2014 at 9:30am at Album Park. The 5K run will commence at 8:30am at Album Park.

Representative Acosta states, "We must honor our caregivers for the invaluable and selfless jobs they do for our Heroes."
