A Word from the Councilmember.. |
Dear Neighbors,
Thank you to all who attended the District 6 Priorities Setting & Community meeting held on February 25th. We heard wonderful feedback from residents who have never attended a community meeting, and are now willing to become actively engaged. My goal was to open the door for more dialogue and engagement opportunities in our community, and I think we have a good start in accomplishing the first step in that process.
The District 6 staff is busy compiling all of the submitted responses collected during the meeting. An outreach survey will be posted on Nextdoor soon, in order to get more feedback from D6 residents, and to hear what everyone thinks about how District 6 can be improved.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, organized, and attended this event. I welcome your questions, concerns, or comments. You can reach me or my team by calling 408-535-4906 or via email at
[email protected] or
[email protected]
Best regards,
Councilmember Dev Davis

The City of San Jose Launches SpeedUp San Jose
SpeedUp San José is a project by the City to find out if our residents and businesses are receiving the internet speed they are paying for. Help us with this important project by answering a couple of questions and taking a speed test. By giving just a few minutes, you will help us increase transparency around internet quality and costs throughout San José. Once testing is complete and we have a better idea of the quality of internet speeds across San José we can take the steps necessary to ensure you are correctly getting the internet speed you are paying for.
Help us SpeedUp San Jose by taking this
speed test today.

Creative Industries Incentive Fund Launches New Funding Category for Arts Businesses in San Jose
The Creative Industries Incentive Fund (CIIF) provides project support to arts-based commercial businesses involved in the production or distribution of the arts. Incentive awards are for creative industries of all types, such as manufacturers, service providers, presenters, and designers, among others. The CIIF seeks to support projects aimed at building successful small arts businesses in San Jose by their ability to: increase community support and marketability; leverage CIIF funding with other funding support; and grow and achieve greater economic sustainability. CIIF has expanded to include a new funding category targeted specifically at arts businesses in San Jose serving as cultural anchors and catalysts in their neighborhoods. This place-based expansion is in response to a growing number of applications to CIIF from neighborhood-based arts businesses as well as nomadic enterprises seeking physical space to anchor themselves in a specific neighborhood. The requests have ranged from storefront improvements to neighborhood activation. The new category, Category 2: CIIF Place-Based, is in addition to the original CIIF category of business support that was offered in CIIF Rounds 1 through 4. Investing in the economic sustainability of neighborhood arts businesses helps keep creativity alive in San Jose neighborhoods and maintains the unique qualities of place in a city challenged by increasing rents and the homogenizing effects of gentrification.
