February is Kindness Month

All of the schools in District 41 will be focused on celebrating and practicing kindness this month. One of the attributes in our new Student Profile is "I am kind." Kindness is found all around us by our students. One example comes to us from our Lincoln students who want to install a "Buddy Bench" to support students during lunch who may not have a buddy to play with outside. Because of their kindness, the district has purchased Buddy Benches for each of our elementary schools.

D41 Students Succeed at Glenbard West

Dr. Rebecca Sulaver
Glenbard West Assistant Principal for Instruction Dr. Rebecca Sulaver presented a keynote at Parent Camp last Saturday. Her presentation focused on students transitioning from District 41 to high school and what students and parents can do to prepare. Her presentation included academic information about how Hadley students perform academically as freshmen at West. "We are incredibly proud of our students and their success at Glenbard West and beyond," said Superintendent Paul Gordon. "I was very pleased to hear Dr. Sulaver's presentation of data supporting that our students are prepared and doing well in high school."

The District 41 Combined Chorus sang the national anthem last weekend at the Chicago Steel Hockey game, performing this time on the ice! The Chorus will also be performing at the May 13 Kane County Cougars game.

Congratulations to the students and to the elementary music team.

West Students Seek Answers

At Glenbard West High School, students enrolled in AP Research are tasked with researching and writing a college-level paper. This means they need to develop a question that has not been answered before and conduct new research, gathering real and relevant data themselves. The following are two parent surveys that will greatly help two Glenbard West students. One is about family zoo attendance and the other is about food allergies. The surveys will take no more than three minutes to complete, but would greatly aid the students and their research. Please consider taking each survey. If you have any questions, please contact the Glenbard West AP Research teachers: Carolyn Fritts and Kelly Hass. Your survey results will be completely anonymous.
