In late August, families of students grades 3-8 and 11 will receive results from the new computerized assessments our students took in the spring. The Smarter Balanced tests are aligned with the state's new content standards, which have raised the bar and expectations for our students. These tests represent a new starting point for measuring student achievement: we've hit the reset button, and teachers now have a better measure of where our students are academically, and how close they are to developing the skills necessary to succeed in college and the workforce. Students and families may have many questions about how to understand and use these score reports, and our schools, teachers, and staff look forward to discussing results in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we encourage you to visit www.fcusd.org/testing. There, you'll find answers to common questions, a video overview of the new score reports - and you'll have the ability to submit questions directly to the District. |
