by Anthony Lopez, Executive Director
The start of November began with the completion of my first 90-days at Zone 126 and there is so much to be thankful for:
- A committed and dedicated team of young professionals;
- Instructional leaders who seek the best of everything for their students and families;
- Community residents and non-profit partners who represent the good in “Do-Gooders;”
- A thought partner and collegial relationship with the Thomas & Jeanne Elmezzi Foundation.
The part of Queens that we call Zone 126 is enjoying an economic boom, but within it, there are children growing up with generational poverty alongside an increasing population of new immigrants who need our support. We know that education is the answer to unlocking and unleashing their potential for success. To do that, Zone 126 will connect the community, our schools—all of them—and service providers, in a cross-sector effort, so our families are supported from the cradle to the career. To continue and expand our efforts, we need you to become engaged. On behalf of the children and families of Zone 126, we thank you.

Zone 126 and partner organizations/high schools gathered together for a Youth Affinity Group to get their input about their education, advice for the adults that help them, and feedback on Zone 126 organizational partnership.
