Do All In The Name! 3/5/17
Jeremiah 45:5 (KJV)
5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.
I LEARNED and am STILL learning the mighty TRUTH of the following statement:
"
GOD CAN DO GREAT THINGS THROUGH THE INDIVIDUAL WHO DOES NOT DESIRE AND/OR NEED THE GLORY/CREDIT!!"
"
AND SEEKEST THOU GREAT THINGS FOR THYSELF? SEEK THEM NOT!!!!"
I have often preached that our Lord and Savior has a huge problem!!??
He REALLY thinks He is God!!!!
One night/early morning last week I woke up (PTL for waking up!) with an oft used quote a former mentor used to say a lot:
"
DO MORE AND SAY LESS!"
But in the wee hours of the morning, God improved on her words with this thought:
"
PRAY MORE AND DO/SAY LESS!!!"
That is the thought I THOUGHT I was gonna preach on last Wednesday!
It is SO hard to keep one's mouth shut and/or be sorely tempted to TRY to do more!!
WE all want to give wise advise to our loved ones-especially when we see them flailing about helplessly in obvious error.
Or, we want to HELP others DO what they should be doing on their own!!!
Many years ago, a man turned his Church over to his son and as we were driving down the road one day, he suddenly let out a sigh and these words:
"
My son is making all kinds of mistakes."
Horrified, I replied, "Well, why don't you stop him or correct him?"
His wise reply was, "If I did, he would never learn from his mistakes!"
As my dad often said, "The best school is the SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS!"
PRAYER IS HARD WORK!!
PRAYER IS MOST OFTEN UNSEEN AND UNACCREDITED!!!
Seldom, if not ever, are we commended and/or lauded and applauded for our PRAYERS!
Men admire works and accomplishments, God admires UN-seen PRAYER!
Matthew 6:5-6 (KJV)
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
PRAY MORE AND DO/SAY LESS!!!
To this day, how well do I remember God speaking to me over 45 years ago!!
God said to me:
"
I WILL GO BEFORE THEE AND PREPARE A PLACE/PATH FOR YOU........"
Here is the key phrase God spoke to me:
"
AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW ME AND.................................
GIVE ME THE GLORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Our job, our duty as Christians is "TO PRAISE THE LORD!!!"
Psalm 107:15 (KJV)
15 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Matthew 5:16 (KJV)
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 6:1 (KJV)
1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
TODAY, seek NOT "great things for thyself, and....................
Colossians 3:17 (KJV)
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
