Here at Pendleton Place, we know that not everyone is fortunate enough to have a happy childhood. Children and teens who come through our doors have been removed from their home not because of what they have done, but because of what has been done to them.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. This is a nationally-designated month to acknowledge the importance of communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect. Pendleton Place is proud to partner with Children's Trust of South Carolina, the state's affiliate organization for Prevent Child Abuse.
Last year, 17,662 children were abused and/or neglected in South Carolina. Greenville County has the highest number of any county in South Carolina at 1,821 children.
The need is here, and children are relying on you to help provide them with a safe and hopeful future.
Prolonged or extreme stress and trauma in a child's life, also known as adverse childhood experiences, interfere with healthy brain development and can lead to learning and behavioral problems as well as long-term health and social issues.
Children who are abused and/or neglected are at a high risk of repeating this cycle.
You have the power to prevent this cycle and stop child abuse.
The Mission of Pendleton Place is keep children safe and support families in crisis through prevention, assessment, and intervention. When children enter foster care due to abuse and neglect, we work to protect, equip, and heal these vulnerable children.
When you support Pendleton Place, you are helping children overcome the trauma of abuse and neglect.
Make a gift today and help break this cycle of abuse and neglect.
