STRUT YOUR MUTT
Supporting the DRHS

Our 23rd Annual Strut Your Mutt Walk was held on June 4 this year. Over 120 participants and many critters came to Murphy Park to help raise funds for the animals at the DRHS. The three mile walk was along Dubuque's scenic Grandview Avenue.

The DRHS had a Microchip Clinic at the event to check the functionality of already chipped pets and we also offered a discounted rate to insert a microchip if an owner wished to take part of this service.

Paw In Hand and Theisen's had demonstrations and free samples for all the walkers as well. As you can see from the photo above, the Splash Zone was our most popular attraction for the pups on the walk.

Thank you to all the participant whose registration fees helped pay for one animal's vaccinations at the DRHS!

A BIG THANK YOU TO:

DRHS | BY THE NUMBERS

Keep Cool!

Dogs and cats can become dehydrated quickly, so give them plenty of water when it is hot outdoors. Also make sure your pet has a shady place to escape the sun if outside, and when the temperature is very high, don't let your dog linger on hot asphalt. Being so close the ground, your dog's body can heat up quickly, and sensitive paw pads can burn. "Pet owners should never leave their animals unattended in a parked vehicle," added Dr. Louise Murray, vice president of the ASPCA's Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital. "Parked cars, even with windows open, become very hot in a short amount of time, and this can lead to heatstroke or death."
