Understanding Your Child's Trouble With Making Friends

 

If your child has a hard time making friends, it may have nothing to do with his personality. Trouble with forming friendships can be a sign of a learning or attention issue. 

 

Some learning and attention issues have a direct impact on social skills. Some affect expressive language or listening comprehension skills, which makes conversation difficult. And others create a variety of behaviors that can get in the way of making friends. Read more.

As part of the annual Title V Maternal & Child Health (MCH) Block Grant Application, Kansas is required to provide a federal report and application available to the public for the purpose of gathering input. Royals Autism Awareness Day
 
Join the Kansas City Royals and Autism Speaks to help raise awareness for Autism Spectrum Disorders on Autism Awareness Day at Kauffman Stadium on Sunday, May 4, against the Detroit Tigers. The Royals, Major League Baseball, and Autism Speaks have joined forces to create a fun, safe, and family friendly environment for families who are a part of the Speaks family. A portion of each ticket sold will benefit Autism SpeaksTickets will be available for purchase online only leading up to the event on May 4th. "Do children in the custody of the state have minimum graduation requirements?"
 
Yes, students who are currently in the custody of the Department for Children and Families (DCF) or the Juvenile Justice Authority (JJA) or who were in State's custody any time after their 14th birthday may request a diploma from their current high school after accumulating 21 credits per Senate Bill 23.  The 21 credits must be in specified areas of curriculum. Students who desire to attend a college or university following high school will want to ensure they have achieved their desired college's credits.  The minimum graduation requirements under SB 23 may or may NOT be sufficient.
