The Dog Days of Summer are upon us…

Is learning to scuba dive on your bucket list? Here’s your chance! We welcome one of our newest Members, “Get Wet Scubawww.getwetscubadivers.com.  On their website you will find information on the PADI courses they offer, their certification process, plus the schedules of their monthly classes, events, and dive trips.  If you are interested give them a call at (760) 778-7710.

The “Summer Nights” exhibit is at the Visitor Center Gallery until September 30th. With twenty works by local artists the exhibit showcases a variety of mediums and we encourage the community to stop by and enjoy. Remember too that the art is for sale and if you are looking for something special to brighten up your home or office, or as a gift this is a perfect opportunity. Nine works sold during the last exhibit so stop in soon to claim your own piece of Summer Nights.

Those who have attended our Professionals Nights have been very pleased with the information they’ve received and are making use of what they learned – if you have an idea or a suggestion for a future speaker please email 29chamber@29chamber.org or call (760) 367-3445.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

2017/2018 is going to be busy for the Twentynine Palms Chamber of Commerce and we need your help! We are currently seeking gracious volunteers for our upcoming events. We have a variety of ways for you to become involved in enriching our community. We appreciate any time, services or skills that you have to share. Please call (760) 367-3445 or email 29chamber@29chamber.org for more information or to sign up.

It’s a busy time here at the Chamber as I’m sure it is for you. We are continuing to work aggressively to advance the goals set for this year and we will continue to work alongside you, investing in good ideas and building a better support network for our membership. Although we change some things we keep others the same…we still work hard to be flexible, accessible and thoughtful to your needs. That is after all what we’re all about.

This month we will be launching our new website. With a crisp new design layout and better functionality we think we look good but we’d love to hear your comments, thoughts and questions after the rollout.

Have a great week!

Ursula Gilmore

Executive Director

Exciting Announcement From Hi-Desert Cultural Center
To meet the needs of our Hi-Desert communities and the challenges created by the unprecedented growth and expansion of the Cultural Center’s arts and education programs, we have added over 15,000 square feet to our facilities!

Located in the heart of Yucca Valley (at what many of us have referred to as the “Hutchins Building”), the Cultural Center's new and expansive space will now be its Yucca Valley Performing & Visual Arts Center.  The design of the new Yucca Valley Annex will capitalize on its airy and open space that lends itself to a multitude of creative configurations showcasing the arts in the front section of the building—featuring a large art gallery and theater, complete with sprung dance floors.

The Annex will also house a scenic shop and arts studio for visual arts, ceramics, etc.; a wardrobe shop and fabric arts studio; audio recording/broadcasting studios; some general office space for Hi-Desert Cultural Center operations; and, last but certainly not least, classroom and teacher space dedicated to arts and technology education as we move forward with our educational vision for the Joshua Tree ArtsTech Academy (JTATA).

Congratulations to the California Welcome Center, Yucca Valley on their 2017 Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence.

The Welcome Center is so much more than maps. Visit them for information on all events and attractions in the area and don't miss their newly expanded gift show, there's something for visitors and locals.
