Coral Gables Community Foundation introduces first annual Piggy Bank Campaign
The City Beautiful is going hog wild! The Coral Gables Community Foundation is introducing a new fundraising initiative to the community this fall. This September, the Foundation will launch the Piggy Bank Campaign, created to raise awareness for the funds administered by the Foundation and as an opportunity to "bring home the bacon" for those funds.
| Gables High art students designed this piggy bank in the theme of the Give a Buck Fund. |
How does it work? Coral Gables merchants will host piggy banks at their business locations. Each piggy bank is painted by an art student from Coral Gables Senior High School and will be dedicated and painted with the theme of a specific fund. A plaque with the fund's name will accompany each piggy bank stating that collections from that pig support the fund, which is administered by the Coral Gables Community Foundation.
Participating funds and the business at which their piggy banks will be located include the Give a Buck Fund (Books & Books), Jerry Santeiro Community Fund (John Martin's Irish Pub & Restaurant), CGI Merchants Group Fund (Tarpon Bend Raw Bar & Grill), Symphonettes Fund (Whip 'n Dip Ice Cream Shoppe), Bike Walk Coral Gables Fund (No Boundaries), GSK Cares (Goldstein Schechter Koch offices), One Camera One World (Bala Vinyasa and Bagel Emporium), PARKnership Fund (Snow's Jewelers), Perrin Fund (AmTrust Bank), Community Giving Fund (Montica Jewelry), Coral Gables Rotary Fund (J. Bolado Clothiers) and Our Community Salutes Fund (The Local Craft Food & Drink). There will also be piggy banks located at Frenchie's Diner, Curves N' Waves, Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza and i.Design. The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce Commerce Fund will feature a "traveling pig" at their events. A full list of funds and their respective businesses will be available soon.
Coral Gables, keep an eye out at your favorite local businesses for piggy banks and be sure to make a contribution!
The Piggy Bank Campaign is scheduled to launch shortly after Labor Day and run through December.

Ponce Society of Young Professionals accepts over 200 donations for Gables High football team
Held on Thursday, August 7, 2014, the third annual Ponce Society of Young Professionals (PSYP) Dress Shirt & Tie Drive was a success! With close to 200 shirts and too many ties to count collected, the Coral Gables Senior High football team will have more than enough clothes to continue on the tradition of dressing up on Game Day. After checking in their shirts and ties, more than 50 young professionals stayed for drinks and appetizers at Crave Restaurant. The PSYP then visited Gables High on Friday, August 15, 2014 to present the football team with our community's generous donations while treating the boys to a pizza party!
Visit the PSYP Facebook page for more photos from the events. Coral Gables TV also featured stories on both events.
