Domestic Violence In The USA: Are we creating more victims? Or helping them to heal?

As shocking as this sounds approximately 30% of women in America have been raped, molested or assaulted by an intimate partner.

One of the greatest concerns is when a woman returns to an abuser the end result can be fatal.

For the last 30 years, number one best-selling author, counselor and Life Coach David Essel has been helping women who have been sexually assaulted, raped and/or beaten by their intimate partners to find a way to complete healing.

Below, David talks about his concerns in regards to how we're helping, or not helping, victims of domestic violence today.

"If you have a daughter this article is incredibly important to not only read but to print and depending on her age, to share this information with her.

If you're a woman who has been assaulted, raped or beaten by a domestic partner this is also an article you need to print, read and memorize.

Even though I've been a counselor and Life Coach for 30 years, and in the world of personal growth for 40 years, I'm shocked when I hear the statistics that approximately 30% of women in our country have been raped, beaten and or abused in some other way by domestic partner partner.

30%!

And while we don't have statistics available have the 30% been counseled correctly?

Are they given the correct information so they can end the cycle of abuse?

In our practice we see that most cases of domestic violence and abuse begin with name calling.

Which escalates easily into a push here, a shove there... Followed by more name-calling.

After this? We often see the perpetrator start to isolate their victims, their partners, by limiting them on the time they can talk to or spend with friends, family and more.

The idea from the abusers perspective is to gain both mental and physical control over their victim which happens to be their girlfriend and or wife.

I have personally helped so many victims of rape, sexual assault, bullying and stalking over the past 30 years and I wish I could say I see a decrease in these statistics.
