Giant Rolling Pin null
What's worse?  Paying $40 for a texture mold that looks just like your friend's mold?
Or paying $40 for a texture mold that's only 7" when your slumping mold is 11" ?

It's time to break free from the mass-produced texture mold cage.
Deborah Ellington (BA, MA, MFA) has been teaching clay and ceramics for decades.
She is totally qualified to take glass people and turn us into productive and successful mold makers.
The molds shown above were made in two hours and I didn't even plan ahead to get
some shapey things to help me create these unique texture molds.
We will also be learning to make slumping molds.

In this class, you'll build your own clay board, you'll use your enormous rolling pin and you'll
have access to a variety of tools for texturing.  When the class is over, you'll take most
of these tools home with you so that you can do it again!  We are eager for you to be
successful and create one-of-a-kind artwork so that you can break out of the "mold".
It can also be economical to make your own molds.  I just realized that my $23
drop-out mold can be made with $1 worth of clay.

Deborah Ellington

Learning to draw is a skill that you will use in many parts of life, not just in stained glass.
Even if you're left brain dominant, Deborah Ellington can teach you to draw.

Using the same skills as those outlined in the best-selling book,
Deborah will have you using and showing off your skills in just three sessions.

Deborah has a BA, an MA and an MFA.
She has been teaching art at Lone Star College for several decades.
She knows the insecurities that you experience and how to overcome them.

In this class, you will learn how to "see" and translate
three-dimensional objects onto a two-dimensional surface.

In order that each student is working with the proper tools for success, the class will include
your pencils, erasers, charcoal, drawing paper, ViewCatcher, Angle Ruler, sketch book and
a sturdy easel. These products are yours to take home.
Students will learn the difference between types of pencils and erasers, how to hold the pencil,
how to "see" the object, how to create proportion and perspective, and how to use the
ViewCatcher and Angle Ruler. You'll also explore how to create dimension using value and
how to draw using negative space and positive shapes.

Plan on homework! Between class one and class two, you'll want to practice your newfound skills
every day. By the time you come to class two, you'll feel comfortable with the tools and
your ability to see the shapes that create an object.

Thursday, January 18, 2018
from 10:30 am - 9:00 pm   OR   6:30 - 9:00 pm
No Experience Required!
Beginning Stained Glass
Stained Glass has been a cherished art form for more than 1000 years.
Prior to the invention of tools that make it easy for modern artisans, apprentices
trained under proficient craftsmen to learn the trade.

In the 21st century, up-to-date tools make it easy to learn the rewarding craft of
stained glass.  During this hands-on class, you will learn all the skills necessary to
complete a stained glass panel using the copper foil technique that was developed by
Louis Comfort Tiffany.  Each student will complete a  9" x 14" panel, including framing
with a rigid metal border.  Every class session is filled with fun as you learn to
select glass, cut & fit, foil, solder, frame and polish your artwork.  We don't have to
teach you to admire it and beam with pride, that comes naturally!

Please visit harmony prior to class to select and prepare your pattern.
