Last week, we celebrated
International Day of Forests (21 March) and
World Water Day (22 March).
The importance of both of these days is reflected in the work of the many Momentum for Change winners - known as Lighthouse Activities - that focus on protecting forests and providing clean water.
On International Day of Forests, countries are encouraged to undertake local, national and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns. Learn about action already underway below:
World Water Day is about focusing attention on the importance of water. Damaged ecosystems affect the quantity and quality of water available for human consumption. Today, 2.1 billion people live without safe drinking water at home; affecting their health, education and livelihoods.
