Hello Volunteers,
Since the beginning of this school year, 2313 volunteers have completed over 8126 hours of volunteer service through the Maroon Volunteer Center and Volunteer Starkville. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to making our community a better place.

Are you looking for a simple way to give back during the "Season of Giving"?
Visit the Palmer Home Giving Tree at the Barnes and Noble bookstore on the MSU campus and leave a gift for a Palmer Home child. Gift wrapping is also available with proceeds going towards Habitat for Humanity.

Provide a gift for the Palmer Home Giving Tree
Looking for a great way to give back this season? Visit the Palmer Home Giving Tree at the Barnes and Noble bookstore on the MSU campus and purchase or make a gift for a Palmer Home Child. Simply take a card from the tree with a child's name and place it on the gift of your choice. Gifts do not have to be purchased at the Barnes and Noble. Great gift ideas include gift cards and education toys.

Volunteer with the Salvation Army

The Salvation Army has ongoing volunteer opportunities Monday - Friday during the holidays.They are located at 407A Industrial Park Road in Starkville, MS.

Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser

Habitat for Humanity is continually striving to provide affordable housing to thousands of low-income families. In efforts to raise money, the Habitat for Humanity student organization is partnering with Barnes & Noble to launch the Wrap a Gift Project. Volunteers will be needed at Barnes & Noble from December 3rd-December 14th to wrap gifts for a small fee. All proceeds for the gift wrapping will go directly to the 2013 Habitat for Humanity home. Emerson School Christmas Extravaganza

When: Saturday December 15, 2012 (9 AM - 12 PM
Where: Emerson Family School at 1504 Louisville Street in Starkville.
The Emerson Family School will be having its Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday December 15, from 9 AM - 12 PM. Volunteers will be helping manage booths for the event, making ornaments, baking cookies, and overall event management with the families and their kids. Volunteers are asked to arrive at 7:30 AM for prep. To volunteer, visit: https://www.mvc.msstate.edu/index.php 

Also at Emerson, on Mondays from 4 PM - 5 PM, volunteers are asked to come and help tutor kids in the Language Arts Program. There will be teachers there during this time, but volunteer help is requested in working with the children. For more information, email volunteer@saffairs.msstate.edu.

Volunteer with the Columbus YMCA

YMCA Holiday Camps
When: December 19 - 21, 2012 (7:30 AM - 6 PM)
December 26 - 28, 2012 (7:30 AM - 6 PM)
January 2 - 4, 2012 (7:30 AM - 6 PM)
Where: YMCA Downtown Location:  602 2nd Ave N, Columbus

Volunteers are asked to help out with the Morning, Lunch, & Afternoon shifts for these events. The Holiday Camps will consist of helping with arts & crafts, devotionals, games, swimming, crowd control, maintenance of pickup and dropoff of kids, helping with basketball games. Upward: Basketball League Evaluators

Volunteers are asked to help with evaluating the basketball skills of children in the YMCA Basketball League, which will help determine what teams the kids will be placed on for the league. To volunteer, call  the YMCA at (662) 328-7696 or email volunteer@saffairs.msstate.edu for more information.
