Spotlight Wall - Will Brewster
November 9 - December 3
Food for Thought2

Our Spotlight Wall artist, Will Brewster, has this to say about being "put on the spot!": I was quite surprised to be asked to take the Spotlight Wall for this exhibit. Although I am from a family that has included professional artists, I never picked up a pencil learning to draw until the fall of 2005. Two years later, I took up watercolor. Whatever success I have had is due in large part to the patience and encouragement of my teachers: Carol Morley for drawing, DeWitt Hardy and Dustan Knight for watercolor.

To date, I have concentrated on landscapes especially those including some architecture.
In time, I hope to include interiors and figures. Art has taught me to look at what is right in front of me, to look and really see.

It also has taught me that good drawing is essential to the final rendering of a scene in any medium. Art absorbs my attention and provides space away from the busyness of the world. ~William Brewster

A snippet from the artist about her life, her art and her muse:  " Most of my life has been involved with music- playing, teaching, conducting- always interpreting.  Recently, I traded my baton for a paint brush; now, I try to interpret what I see.  Whether in the studio or en plein air, one is challenged with color, value, composition, etc.  I enjoy painting with oil and watercolor and have had the opportunity to study with fine teachers in each medium." ~Dianne Dean
