"We're bringing transportation into the 21st century, and Florida is going to be at the center of it all. Tampa will be among the first cities in the nation to use the latest technology to make it safer and easier to drive." - U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson

The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded a $17 million contract for a Connected Vehicle Pilot Program to the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority in September 2015.  Hillsborough County is one of three metro areas in the U.S. to implement the pilot program. The connected vehicle research program is a multimodal initiative that aims to enable safe, interoperable networked wireless communications among vehicles, infrastructure, and personal communications devices. Connected vehicle research is sponsored by the DOT and others to leverage the potentially transformative capabilities of wireless technology to make surface transportation safer, smarter, and greener.

Join us for a conversation about the impact of the Connected Vehicle Pilot Program on downtown with Bob Frey,  Planning Director at THEA.
