Due to ongoing construction and concern for the safety of visitors, the Arkansas State Capitol Police are advising the public that the Capitol building will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays beginning this Saturday, July 25. The closure will remain in effect through the fall as construction work is completed. The Capitol is currently undergoing renovations, including on the north end of the building in the House barrel vault and on the first floor. The building will be open to the public during normal business hours Mondays -Fridays, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. The Capitol is expected to reopen at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 5th for the Capitol Lighting Ceremony and remain open through the holiday season. SoMa's Piro announced this week that it is changing names...only. Learn more. Meanwhile, Natchez announced this week it is closing. Learn more. The Little Rock Board of Directors voted Tuesday to provide $6.6 million in sales tax proceeds to the Little Rock Tech Park so it can purchase properties along Main Street for its permanent home.
