Local Coaches Help People Stop Smoking

Perhaps you have an employee or family member who has tried to quit smoking before, but relapsed. Cancer Services, located in the Strosacker Center for Human Services at 220 W. Main, offers experienced coaches to help  committed quitters reach their goal.

Early January is a time when many smokers get serious about quitting. It's just too darn cold to go outside and smoke and most smokers really can't afford their habit anyway. However, if smokers have been unable to quit on their own, research shows that the guidance of a trained cessation specialist and the use of nicotine replacement therapy products (patches, gum, etc.) can double the chances of quitting for good.

Contact Cancer Services at (989) 835-4841 or email info@cancerservicesmidland.org to make an appointment. The office is open 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, but other appointment times can be arranged. Check out Cancer Services at www.cancerservicesmidland.org. Fees are $15 per session; income-eligible fee is $5.

When You Want to Change a Loved One

PermSolLogo8-12

We know that we can't change others. But many of us still try. "More people suffer from trying to change others than from any other sickness". Many of us try nagging, begging, yelling, guilt trips, even throwing temper tantrums and other ploys to get through to a loved one. While we can't control others, we can influence them by focusing on ourselves.

Since you can't get them to change, you must change yourself so their destructive patterns no longer work on you. Change your way of dealing with them; they may be motivated to change if their old ways no longer work.

Once we relinquish the need to control others, an incredible thing happens: We become healthier (maybe even more at peace). And that person you finally stopped trying to control may even "notice and envy your health. They may want some of what you have."

The reality is that nagging someone to change their behavior - along with other similar tactics - only perpetuates the problem.

Comfy Cozy At Ways To Wellness!

Ways to Wellness Store Front

January is feeling warm and cozy here at Ways To Wellness and we're sharing our secrets so you can feel the same way ;-)

Here are four of our favorites:

  1. Tea, the perfect way to warm you from the inside out!  We now carry Galilee Tisane Herbal Remedy teas, a series of healthy and invigorating teas, each with its own unique quality and flavor. Glucole helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels; Hyperbal for blood pressure levels; Colestel for cholesterol level and detox; GreenSlim for weight management, Asmakal for asthma and allergies; and Moringa for antioxidants.  Customer reviews have been very positive! Add it to your health regimen to naturally aid your body's processes for feeling great.
  2. Candles with pure essential oils provide a warm glow with the added benefit of boosting health and mood! Try a Thieves Oil candle (poured by Coyer Candle!) to fight germs and increase your body's natural immune system.
  3. Salt Lamps, another warm glow -- they ionize the air; absorb repertory irritants that contribute to sinus, allergy, and asthma symptoms. Salt lamps also eliminate electromagnetic static from computers and other electronics.
  4. Books educate, guide, comfort, and uplift us, plus they're the perfect cuddle-up companions on cold, wintery days! Check out the selection of titles we offer to keep you company.

We're open 7 days a week to help you Think well...Live well...Be well...
