Dear Friends,
There is energy in the air in Downtown Troy - more energy than I have ever felt here before!
Here in the BID office we have welcomed 30 new residents to the streetscape of Downtown Troy - in the form of Uncle Sam statues created for The Uncle Sam Project, our first ever public art installation. We will unveil them all tomorrow - Friday, April 26th. I am quite sure when you see them, you will be as overwhelmed as I am.
This is the most wonderful project I have worked on in my time here with the BID. Not only are we making high quality art accessible to the public and beautifying Downtown, but we are bringing awareness to the history of our great City. I would like to personally thank all of our partners on this project, including the Louis and Hortense Rubin Community Fellows Program, the City of Troy, The Rensselaer County Historical Society, The Arts Center, all of our statue sponsors, and of course, the extremely talented artists who decorated our Sams!
We look forward to seeing you Downtown!
Elizabeth Young
