Dear St. George Families,
As we get closer to Thanksgiving and Advent I am reflecting on how thankful that I am to be a part of the St. George community.  In this age of bigger, better, faster, "I need it yesterday", I too often forget to tell the people that mean the most to me how much I appreciate them and their efforts.  I must confess that I get caught up in the events of the day and week and forget to acknowledge the dedication, hard work, compassion, caring, and professionalism that the faculty and staff at St. George School offer to all who enter our school.
It begins at the front door, the warm greeting, the feeling of being part of the "St. George Family" everyone receives from Mrs. Mineville, Mrs. Ball, Mrs. Marioneaux and Mrs. Lauman.  They are always eager to help, offer a warm smile, mend a scraped elbow or knee or lend an empathetic ear.  There are many others who work behind the scenes in our office giving selflessly of their time and effort to provide an excellent education for your children.
Our pastor Fr. Mike is a blessing, his unwavering support and love of our school makes St. George an amazing community.
Our Administrative team of Mrs. James Mrs. Fontenot, and Mrs. Prejean work tirelessly on the myriad of tasks and responsibilities that it takes to keep St. George running smoothly. With every effort they put students, parents and staff at the top of their priority list.
Finally, our outstanding teachers, many of our teachers are hard at work in the early morning and work late into the evening.  Last week I was at school at 6:00PM, there were many lights on in classrooms and many teachers were working hard to prepare for the following days lessons.  It is not uncommon to walk into any classroom before or after school and see a teacher working one-on-one with students helping them to be more successful.  Our teachers do this because they love teaching and want the best for your children.  Their efforts go beyond the ordinary.  Their efforts and abilities are extraordinary.
I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with such and outstanding faculty and staff.  It is rare, in this world, to be a part of an organization that shares and models Catholic values on a daily basis. Together, with God, the faculty and staff at St. George School are unequaled.
"I can do all things through him who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:13.
God Bless,
Jack Nelson

Please join us tonight,  Thursday, November 16th, at 6:30 pm in the Kleinpeter Activity Center for an evening with Signe Whitson.

She presents workshops nationwide for students, parents and professionals on understanding and ending bullying.  Mrs. Whitson will be speaking with the students and faculty earlier in the day.

During this presentation, parents will hear Mrs. Whitson speak on:
  • how parents can most effectively listen to their children
