March 1, 2018

Dear St. George Families,
As we continue our Lenten journey we celebrate saying goodbye to our old selves in order to make room for the new person fashioned in Christ. On Ash Wednesday we are reminded that we need to commit to doing what's right, to go forth and help others, not just during the next 40 days, but always. "Even now, says the Lord, return to me with your whole heart, with fasting, and weeping and mourning; rend your hearts, not your garments, and return to the Lord, your God" Joel 2:12-18. When we reflect on these examples of commitment, one can see that when we promise to do something or give up something it involves a journey, but it also involves taking action on that journey.
God is counting on us to actively participate in a journey that brings us closer to Him. Remember WWJD? What would Jesus do? He wants us to take that next step and say goodbye to our old ways, commit to doing what's right, and return to the Lord.
May the good Lord bless you and keep you on your journey.

The Catholic Church Supports Marriages and Families
Retrouvaille is a weekend program followed by six weekly follow-up sessions designed to help heal and renew troubled marriages.  "Retrouvaille" simply means "rediscovery".
This program offers couples the chance to rediscover themselves, their spouse, and a loving  marital relationship. Even if couples are thinking of separation or divorce or are already divorced, but want to try again, Retrouvaille can help. Retrouvaille is a Catholic program, but we welcome couples of all faiths. Retrouvaille is designed to "make a troubled marriage good." Retrouvaille is usually scheduled for three weekends per year. Contact: Diocesan Office of Marriage and Family Life
As an online customized assessment tool, Couple Checkup is meant to be a fun, easy way to take a closer look at your relationship, increase relationship strengths, and above all, spark meaningful conversation between you and your partner.

Please join us as we discover DAVID the KING.  Bishop Robert Barron helps us to understand this pivotal figure in light of the first king and the King of Kings.
