Dear St. George Families,
How we finish something matters more than the time it took to get there. How we finish a day, a week, or a year can be the difference in how our life plays out. "Finish strong," is what our coaches tell our players during games. "Don't look back after a game and say to yourself, I wish I would have tried harder; or I wish I would have done something differently." This advice can be applied to our daily lives as well. A student asked me once, "If you could go back and change one thing in your life, what would it be?" I told him I wouldn't change anything - no regrets. Interestingly, I kept thinking about this question hours later and again the next morning. As I connected the dots backwards, looking at God's plan for me, I came to the realization that where I am in my life today is due to the people and learning experiences I encountered along the way. These experiences, tasks, and challenges were at times as simple as finishing a conversation, or a letter, and at times as complex as leaving a job or a relationship. What do I take from this? I take the realization that we do make mistakes and we cannot go back; I take satisfaction in knowing that where we are is because of what and who influenced us on our journey, Jesus journeying with us the entire way; I take these experiences with me and make the best of them, at times lightening my load and letting go, trekking toward the ultimate finish line.
Live each day to the fullest, appreciate the people in your life, and make a difference in someone else's.
God bless,
Jack Nelson

OCTOBER 7 - 13
AMC MALL OF LOUISIANA THEATER
An amazing documentary filmed in Medjugorje entitled "Apparition Hill" will be shown in Baton Rouge, October 7-October 13, at the AMC Mall of Louisiana theater. The movie is about an unlikely group of pilgrims who journey to the same little-known village of Medjugorje to investigate the claims surrounding the alleged Marian apparitions. It is seven people's journey of faith, all seeking God and finding him in unexpected ways.  The movie is being considered for an Academy Award.  The movie will also be shown in New Orleans,  Lafayette and Alexandria the same week (October 7-13). To learn more about the movie and to view the trailer, visit www.apparitionhill.tv.
