Dragon Tales  Weekly Newsletter
April 6, 2017
Dear St. George Families,
Our Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Dr. Mel, asked my colleagues and I these two questions, "How has your Catholic school community grown, changed, or been challenged during Lent?" and "What aspects or areas of transformation have you seen or experienced at your school?" While reflecting on the answers many events, emotions, and encounters crossed my mind. As I tried to culminate these experiences into a simple answer, the words renewed energy came to my mind. With all that has occurred so far during Lent, and the opening of our new Church one can feel the energy filling the hallways, playground and classrooms and parish. All members of our St. George family are radiating with the anticipation of Easter and the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The energy produced is similar to that of the excitement and anticipation leading up to the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas day.
I recall two students sharing with me that the difference between potential energy and kinetic energy is movement. Potential is just sitting there, doing nothing. Kinetic energy is real energy, moving in all directions. With this said, we definitely have a kinetic experience happening right here in our school community. It is without a doubt there is positive energy emitted as the students collected hundreds of pounds of food to support of the Baton Rouge Food Bank. And each day we witness students' joy and delight as the weather gets warmer, blessed by God's life giving creation, the sun. The Holy Spirit is undeniably moving within and among us at St. George School. It is because of the Holy Spirit that we continue to grow in faith. It is due to our experiences that cause us to be challenged from time to time. And it is from God that we receive the grace for which we are truly blessed and thankful.
Blessings to you as we journey toward Holy Week, and may God fill your lives with joy, peace and love.
Jack Nelson
