A Note from Peter

I am amazed at how the Spirit works in this place, and how circumstances can conspire to bring God’s love to light. Last weekend, I had the profound joy of leading nine families through a Eucharistic Celebration, a chance to learn about Holy Communion: what it is, why we do it, and how we do it.

Children and adults alike asked questions throughout and I was reminded about how much fun I get to have as a priest. I’ve always liked to teach, and the chance to be with children as young as 4 years old as they learn about the altar, the bread and the wine was a very powerful experience.

On Sunday, I invited those children to gather with me around the altar as we celebrated the feast. They watched as I prepared the cup, broke the bread and said the prayers. Then they joined their families as they received communion, some for the first time, with new ideas and a greater understanding of what it all meant.

I’ve always been keen on opening the table as broadly as we can. I’ve always felt that the mysteries of communion are beyond the restrictions of age, membership, piety or purity. If we wait to receive the sacrament until we understand it, will any of us ever truly be ready? I plan on continuing these sessions; our next event will be in November. I ask all of you, old or young, Episcopalian or convert, to consider attending. In the meantime, ponder the sacrament. What does it mean to you? Who is invited?

Third Sunday Band working on a NEW CD

The Third Sunday Band has begun working in the studio to record and produce a new CD which will be released in time for the 2018 Christmas season.

As you might expect from TSB, this will not be the usual collection of familiar carols. Entitled"Peace", the CD features a number of original arrangements of Advent and Christmas songs and original compositions.

Recording and producing music is not an inexpensive proposition. To raise money needed to finish the project, the Band is hoping that many of you will consider pre-purchasing the CD, buying extras for friends and family or consider a donation to our project.
