How can engaging with local Microsoft Dynamics User Groups can benefit your university?

In the past DynAA members have found connecting with local Microsoft Dynamics User Groups to be a rewarding experience. The following examples are from Finland.

Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences has found it very helpful to participate in the local User Group meetings. The User Group meetings act as a forum for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among the customers. These are held independently and therefore not organized by Microsoft. For this User Group Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences presented their method of introducing Microsoft Dynamics NAV into the classroom. Several student projects have been created in conjunction to the participating companies.

Another example is from the degree program, Business Information Technology and Business Administration, at HAMK University of Applied Sciences in Finland. They are in a process of integrating Microsoft Dynamics AX and CRM into their curriculum. In order to connect the university  to the user companies the university has invited the national AX User Group to visit January 23, 2013. The university is interested in cooperation on multiple levels: projects, practices, theses, lectures etc.

If you would like to contact Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences or HAMK University of Applied Sciences to find out more about their experience or you would like to be connected to a local Microsoft Dynamics User Group please contact dynaa@microsoft.com.

Business Intelligence Evangelist

DynAA is excited to introduce you to evangelists and industry professionals who are changing the way Microsoft technologies are used.

This month, we are happy to introduce to Nigel Geary.  Nigel has a PhD in computer modeling of polymer materials, but has worked his entire career in Business Intelligence and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) solutions. Over the last ten years Nigel has delivered hundreds of solutions to Microsoft Dynamics customers.  One example of such an implementation was in London, where Nigel built a company of 25 people, focused on Microsoft Dynamics AX and NAV warehouse solutions, PrecisionPoint Software, which is now in use in a dozen countries, including the United States.

Nigel is enthusiastic about working through Microsoft to educate academic institutions about the potential of Microsoft Business Intelligence generally and for Microsoft Dynamics. He welcomes the idea of helping schools by acting as a Microsoft Business Intelligence evangelist and by sharing his technical experience as well as his anecdotal evidence from the Dynamics world.
