You may recall a recent email from me titled "Can you hear me now?" I urged everyone frustrated by poor cellular service to share their frustration with the City Council and call for adoption of proposed changes to Pleasanton's antiquated cellular antenna rules that prevented providers like ATT, Verizon and Sprint from bridging coverage gaps.
To their credit, Council approved changes to the ordinance, and providers are wasting no time improving coverage, most notably in and around the Valley Business Park.
City Council deserves credit for responding to City staff, Economic Vitality Committee and Chamber recommendations to make this a priority after last year's EVC business survey identified the problem. Next on the list, improving fiber optic cable access from the street to business users.
