Practice of the Week:
Be Mindful
The"Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, nonjudgementally." (Jon Kabat-Zinn) "When we are mindful, deeply in touch with the present moment, our understanding of what is going on deepens, and we begin to be filled with acceptance, joy, peace, and love." (Thich Nhat Hanh) READ MORE...

Rev. Meredith Garmon
"Mindfulness" is all the rage these days -- and "Mindfulness/Presence" is our theme of the month for June. So, what's it all about? For what is it good? Is it really worth the effort?

Vote to Change Name of CUC
The What's In a Name committee has completed its work and found that the majority of those surveyed were in favor of changing CUC's name. Members' input favored changing "Church" to "Congregation," and adding "Universalist."

Thus, the motion is to change our name from "Community Unitarian Church at White Plains" to:
"Community Unitarian Universalist Congregation at White Plains."

All members will have the opportunity to vote on the motion at the annual meeting on  Sunday, June 7 Please attend the meeting and cast your vote.
Performance Event - Save The Date

Madrigal Feast, Sunday, December 13!

What is a Madrigal Feast?  An event filled with music,

good food, costumes, games, dance, and entertainment

of all sorts from Renaissance times - 1450-1600 a.d. for

whole family participation and enjoyment following the

morning service.

Lisa Meyer and the CUC Choir, with assistance from the Brunch

Committee, the children in the R.E. program, and hopefully

many others will create an event that the whole community will

enjoy. A kind of medieval talent cabaret, we need people of

all talents to participate and people to help with the logistics

of set-up, operations, and clean-up.

Please contact Lisa Meyer, Choir Director at [email protected]

Or 516.299.2475 (daytime) or 347-278-3187 (nighttime) for more

Information and to sign up to participate.  More Info to come!

Going to Clearwater?
The Clearwater Festival is Jun 20-21 at Croton Point Part, Croton-on-Hudson. This year, there's a UU table, shared by the five Westchester UU congregations. If you're going, can you spare some time to help staff the UU table? That'd be great! If you can help out, please contact Janet Bear ([email protected]).

Lifespan Religious Education

Dear RE Families, Teachers, and Friends,

We promise it will be merry on Sunday, as we end the month of May together. Join us for a worship that always brings new perspectives. Please see the following three (3) announcements:

1. This Sunday, May 31

Coming of Age Service

All ages will get to see the 9th grade youth lead the service and share their credos. Younger children have the opportunity to see where they are headed and be inspired by the youth.

Come hear the youth's insights and the COA band!

Special refreshments after the service.

2. Young Adult Group This Sunday

First meeting this Sun May 31 at 12 p.m.

Please RSVP to Sara Caldwell at [email protected] so we know how much pizza to get.

Spend some time with a group of your peers after the service! We are open to anything: discussing current events and spirituality, volunteer work, even just hanging out!

Pizza will be served.

(Young adults are defined as ages 18-35 (out of high school) by the UUA.)

3. We Need You

The CUC RE program needs you to Foster, Mentor, and Nourish our children & youth.

Tell Perry or an RE Council member

you're IN and committed for RE at CUC.

As we head down the homestretch of the congregational year, please let me know how we can make it a joyous time for you.

Sincerely,
-Perry

Sharing Sunday Offerings
May: Furniture Sharehouse
Each month we share 25% of our plate offerings with outside organizations in need. Furniture Sharehouse provides individuals and families with the basic household furnishings they need free of charge, enabling them to rebuild their lives with dignity.

See Rev. Garmon if you have an idea for a future monthly plate share.
