I want to say a great big THANK YOU to all of you for welcoming me and my entire family back to Forrest Burdette.  You kind words have meant so much to all three of us.  Not only am I busy with the music of the church, but Donna is playing with the orchestra and Christian is involved in the Christmas play the children are doing under JaynĂ©'s direction.  We feel like we have come home.
For me, the last eleven years have been like an odyssey of sorts with many rich experiences.  I served at St. George Orthodox Cathedral for six years, Charleston Baptist Temple for five years, and learned to love many people with whom I worked and served.  It was a pleasure to learn the history of each congregation and to learn their traditions.   I came to Forrest Burdette in 1999 as the first full-time music minister and served until 2006.  Now returning to serve here truly feels like coming home to me and to Donna who was here many years before me.  I want to thank David Shanklin for getting in touch with me and for Pastor Ellis, both of whom made the transition an enjoyable experience.  The staff as a whole has been very accepting and kind; I'm very glad to be a part of a very good team.
I have always known music is my calling and have regularly served in churches since I was ten years old.  At age 66 I know I am in the autumn of my life and am thankful that in this era I will be able to make beautiful music for the people of Forrest Burdette.  I want to take a moment an honor Allen Harrah for designing a world-class organ and placing a concert grand piano for use in our sanctuary.  I remember saying in my early years here at the church that I could spend all of my time devoted to making music on these instruments.  However, at that time I had many more responsibilities! Now I will be able to devote more energy to creating arrangements to offer in worship on these wonderful instruments.  I must say it is a joy hear the congregation and choir singing to the accompaniment I provide, and I look forward to a very bright future at Forrest Burdette!

Advent Candle for Mission
Beginning December 3, the 1st Sunday in Advent, we will keep a candle burning on the Communion Table for missions. For each dollar donated, the candle will remain lit one hour. This year, the candle donations will support Living Hope High School, Bungoma, Kenya, which was begun by Marilyn Uhl, a WV United Methodist. An $88/month sponsorship gives an orphan an opportunity in the name of Jesus Christ, raising and educating Christian leaders of tomorrow Let's keep the candle burning during Advent and the 12 days of Christmas. Mark your check or envelope "candle".

That's My Pan!
That's My Pan! Fundraiser is going strong. To guarantee Christmas Delivery, please have all orders submitted online or turned into Pastor Jeremy by the end of the month. All other orders are welcome after that date, as there is no cut off. Each order will not only help our youth raise money for their upcoming Mission Trip to Virginia Beach next July, but they can also double up as a wonderful Christmas gift for someone you love. Brochures are available at the Connection Center desk. As always, the youth and the leaders of the youth want to thank everyone for your continued support as we go out and make a difference in Jesus' name.
