If you heard some different sounds coming from the organ the last two times I played an offertory, it's because I have been utilizing the MIDI division of the organ.  MIDI is interfacing the organ with another source of sounds, namely a tone generator that produces sounds that have been sampled from actual acoustic instruments. Yesterday I was able to use two different string samples, an oboe, and a french horn.  I layer those with sounds from the organ, and the effect is a much richer quality of sound.  It gives the instrument a more symphonic orchestral sound. I have continued to use traditional organ sounds for the hymns.
I'm sure you know that any pieces I play for worship are my offering to God.  It means a lot that many seem to be enjoying my playing, based on personal conversations with some of you. However, I play what I play as an offering to God, and I know He is satisfied with my best effort any given service.
I  would like to personally thank all the musicians from the orchestra who volunteer their time to practice and offer their talents as an offering to God in worship services.  You may also often hear my wife, Donna, who plays string arrangements I make to add another dimension to the choir anthems or my offertories.

Help Us Support Ally's Trip to Africa
Ally Lawhon (daughter of Kevin & Tammy Lawhon) will be a short-term missionary to Masindi, Uganda, May 29-June 9, with Love One International.  A basket is in the Narthex for donations of Neosporin, Tylenol, Cortisone/Benadryl Cream, anti-nausea meds, sleep aids, Band-aids, sunscreen, bug spray, hand sanitizer, and wet wipes.  To help fund Ally's mission trip, mark your check or envelope "Ally".  Please keep her in your prayers.

Salvation Army Camp Donations
We will be collecting much needed summer play clothes, socks, shoes, and beach towels for Salvation Army campers from May 20-27. This faith-based camp located in the Martinsburg area will be hosting many campers this summer including some local children, aged 7-14, who often don't have the basics needed for summer camp. This ministry touches the lives of many children who may never be exposed to the love of Christ if not for the camp experience.  A  collection basket is in the Narthex for: new or clean, gently used summer play clothing, socks, shoes, and beach towels . Please keep these children in your prayers this summer.

Service of Consecration & Open House
Sunday, June 3 - Service of Consecration 10:00 a.m. (between worship services)                                     Community Open House 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Work is nearing completion on the covered entrance which will finish the church addition. You have been very faithful in your financial support. Through April, over $1,799,483 has been received. Because of your "up front giving" our "construction draw" to date is $1,692,169. Although we will have a few more expenses as we complete the total project, it is not expected that we will need to borrow the total $2 million as once planned. It will not be long until we will have to convert the "draw" to a monthly mortgage. Every gift now will help us lower the total borrowed and the monthly payment. Prayerfully consider making a gift now if you are able. Thank you for your generosity and support.
