    Sunday is Mother's Day, which began with a special service organized by Anna Jarvis in May, 1907 at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Grafton. As we celebrate the day, remember the wide continuum of mothering:

To those who gave birth this year;
To those who lost a child this year;
To those who care for little ones every day and wear the badges of food stains;
To those who experienced loss through miscarriage, failed adoption, or running away;
To those who walk the hard path of infertility;
To those who have warm and close relationships with your children;
To those who have disappointment, heartache, and distance from your children;
To those who lost their mother this year;
To those who experienced abuse at the hands of their mother;
To those who are single and long to be married with children;
To single parent mothers who shoulder total responsibility;
To step-parent mothers who get caught in the middle;
To those who envision lavishing love on grandchildren which is not yet to be;
To those who will have emptier nests in the coming year;
To those who placed children up for adoption;
To those who are pregnant with new life;

    Motherhood is not for the faint of heart.  We have bold, courageous, faithful women all around us.   Thanks for the gift of mothers!

Grace & freedom,
Ellis

Construction Update
This week they have been connecting the smoke and fire alarm system to Byrd Hall both up and downstairs. They have started the forms for concrete along the bell tower and will continue toward the new addition.
