2017 VBS
Elyria Oberlin Clergy
Dear Christ Church family and friends,

What a great week we had at the 2017 Vacation Bible School "Hero Central" sponsored by St. Andrew's and Christ Church.

Our sisters and brothers at St. Andrew's gave it their all and we had a total of 28 young people throughout the week with and additional 14 youth and adult helpers!

Our new Curate for Children, Youth and Young Adults, Gregory Stark, dived right in and spent some quality time bonding with the children, youth and adults at St. Andrew's in Elyria.

I'm so grateful that Leah Carter from our parish was able to be a part of this wonderful spiritual formation event and grateful to her parents for getting her to VBS last week and to the VBS celebration at St. Andrews's last Sunday--August 6th at 9:30 a.m.

Deacon Greg is already dreaming about VBS next summer and we hope that more children and adults from Christ Church will join in the learning and the fun!

Peace and joy be yours today!

Help Outfit Bellwether Farm in memory of Marty Lancaster. A matching challenge issued by the Mission Endowment Board.

Bellwether Farm, the new camp, retreat, and education center of the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio, will provide a place for discovery, leadership development, and experiential learning through sustainable farming, food production, and care of the environment.

The goal of Bellwether Farm is to equip children and adults to be informed, inspired, and empowered leaders for a sustainable future. This new center, situated on a 137-acre campus in Wakeman Ohio, is a model of green technology featuring passive buildings, renewable energy, and water reclamation systems.

It will be a vehicle through which we can teach the wider community about fidelity to the environment, nutrition, physical and spiritual wellness, local food sourcing, food justice, and sustainable living.

Perhaps you have received a catalogue from the Bishop's office titled "Outfitting Bellwether Farm"

The Mission Endowment Board has issued a #whatsyour200 matching challenge to the people of Christ Church to raise funds in memory of Marty Lancaster for the purpose of helping to outfit Bellwether Farm.

The challenge will run from July 1 - October 31st. The MEB will match every $200 raised through contributions to Christ Church from parish members and friends (up to $1000). All contributions small and great will add up.  Each time we reach the benchmark of $200, the MEB will match that number with an additional $200 (up to $1000 total) On all Saint's Sunday we will announce how much has been collected and how that contribution will be used at Bellwether Farm to honor Marty's memory.

Please make checks payable to Christ Church and memo them MEB/Bellwether Farm.

If you have questions please speak with James Howsmon, Daria Grimes, Mary Lynne Grove, Nicki Memmott, Jonathon Field, Lindsay Graves, or Fr. Brian Wilbert.

Rest in Peace

#whatsyour200 update
spoon and Fork
First, Thank you to everyone who brought in toilet tissue which we collected for distribution by Oberlin Community Services!

Our next #whatsyour200 challenge comes to us from our Community Meals Board.

We need FORKS and SPOONS!  These utensils just seem to sprout feet and "walk away"

So, everyone has odd forks and spoons in your kitchen utensil drawer, right? RIGHT! Please bring them to church and set them on the front pew!  We'll collect them and hopefully we can have a "stash" of 200 to aid our Community Meals Ministry!  Thank you!
