Memorial Day weekend has finally arrived and with it comes the official start of Summer. It is a time when we pay tribute to the men and women of the armed forces-current and past -- who have sacrificed so much for us so that we may enjoy the freedom and liberty we have. So as we visit with friends and relatives at the beach, the barbeque and holiday parties let's toast those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. When you meet a veteran please say "thank you" to them for their service to the country.
It is almost a full year that I have been President of the Melville Chamber of Commerce, and it would not be fitting if I did not thank the all the Board Members who contributed their time and energy to committees, board meetings, planning events and networking events. It takes a full complement of people to make it look so easy when an event comes off without a hitch.
Speaking of events: On June 21
st. we are having a breakfast meeting at Stew Leonard's where none other than Stew Jr. himself will be speaking about what it takes to motivate employees. Also, on June 23
rd there is an after-hours networking event at The Harbor Club in Huntington, next door to Prime. Please make sure you check the Melville website -- soon to be new and improved -- for all Young Professional's events, W.O.M.E.N.s events and any breakfast or after hours networking events.
Membership in our Chamber has grown considerably during the past year, thanks to the hard work of Kaye Nickerson, Membership Services Director, and of course Ted Macaluso, our Executive Director, making the Melville Chamber one of the most attractive and vibrant Chambers around. It is being run for all members and I encourage all of you to spread the word about how we are growing.
I again want to say thank you for making me feel welcome as your President and I look forward to all the exciting new events we have planned (especially the Business Expo on October 25, 2016.) Please enjoy a safe and fun summer!
P.S. Has anyone seen my golf ball?
Best regards,
David Gustin
President
