Wai Look Award: Seeking Emerging Community Leaders

a4 is still accepting nominations for the second annual Wai Look Award for Outstanding Service to the Arts, honoring exceptional Asian American individuals who work as arts workers and cultural organizers and show exceptional promise as community leaders. The prize includes a $500 honorarium. The nominee will be honored at a4's 30th Anniversary Gala on October 9, 2012.
The deadline to apply online is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2012.

David Henry Hwang at Barnes and Noble
New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) presents a reading, discussion and book signing with David Henry Hwang, on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 7:00 pm at Barnes and Noble at 86th Street and Lexington Avenue. A 1985 NYFA Fellow in Playwrighting, Mr. Hwang is the Tony Award-winning author of Chinglish, M. Butterfly and Golden Child, among many others. He will also be honored as the 2013 Playwright in Residence at Signature Theatre Company. The event is free and open to the public. Come meet a legendary playwright.

Soh Daiko
Soh Daiko was established in 1979 as the first taiko (Japanese drum) group on the East Coast under the guidance of the New York Buddhist Church. The group has performed in over 500 formal staged events and community festivals throughout the United States and abroad since its inception, including Brooklyn Botanic Gardens' Cherry Blossom Festival, Smithsonian's Folk Life Festival, The Asian/Pacific American Heritage Festival, Japan Day Festival in Central Park, and Summerstage.
