Zarin Mehta, Executive Director of New York Philharmonic, will be lead honoree at a4 Gala
 We are thrilled to announce that a4 will honor Zarin Mehta, one of the most high-profile Asian American leaders in the arts worldwide, as our lead honoree for a4's 29th Anniversary Gala on Tuesday, October 18, 2011! Mehta is credited with overseeing the New York Philharmonic Orchestra's historic February 2008 concert in Pyongyang, Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Mr. Mehta is the son of the late violinist and Bombay Symphony Orchestra founder Mehli Mehta. He is also the brother of the celebrated conductor Zubin Mehta, who was the New York Philharmonic's Music Director from 1978 to 1991. Click here to learn more about the Gala and Zarin Mehta!

a4 is now accepting nominations for the inaugural Wai Look Award for Outstanding Service to the Arts, honoring exceptional Asian American individuals for their accomplishments, promise, and commitment to the arts. Corky Lee, Photographer
Corky Lee has been taking photographs of NYC's Asian American community since the '70s. Known as "The Undisputed Unofficial Asian American Photographer Laureate," his work has captured the lives of Asian Pacific Americans, from everyday moments to protests and vigils. His mission is to ensure that the stories and faces of Asian Pacific Americans will be included in the records of American history, combating stereotypes and injustice. Check out his solo show Asian Pacifically New York: The Photography of Corky Lee at the Queens Museum, running now through August 14!
