 Locating the Sacred Festival  
 
Planning is under way for a4's Locating the Sacred festival (Sept. 12-23, 2012)! Applications for artists in all disciplines, and for space hosts, will be available starting in early January 2012. a4 will hold festival information sessions throughout the five boroughs in January and February 2012. Start thinking about your projects!

Welcoming new Festival Coordinator Elena Chang!

 

Elena Jin ChangPlease join us in welcoming new a4 Festival Coordinator Elena Jin Chang! Elena is thrilled to be joining the a4 team for the "Locating the Sacred" festival. She strives to continue her work as an artist and activist through collaborations between professional artists & community members. Elena has worked both independently and with companies such as the Looking Glass, Ma-Yi Theatre Company, and Vampire Cowboys. She is also a company member of Leviathan Lab, a professional creative studio that invests in the advancement of Asian American performing artists. 

Elena has a background in Women's Studies, and holds a BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University.

Pan Asian Repertory Theatre

The Pan Asian Repertory Theatre has been showcasing the talents of Asian American theatre artists for more than 30 years. Benchmark productions have presented stories of migration, assimilation, and the joys of Asian American culture and society. 

 

On Wednesday, December 14 at 7:00pm, the Pan Asian Rep presents "Three Trees," a staged reading of a play by Alvin Eng. This historical drama explores the unique relationship between sculptor Alberto Giacometti and his muse-model, Japanese existential philosopher, Isaku Yanaihara, and takes place in 1950s Paris.
